Asad entered the dining hall only to see the ladies rolling into a fit of laughter. He was blithe to see them having a good time together. Well, when they don't? He thought, chuckling to himself. Asad made his way towards the table where he noticed a buffet of cuisine being arranged at the table. He wondered what was going on in his house.
From the day Dilshaad announced rather declared his marriage in ten days, his ammi behaved strangely. Within three days of the announcement, Asad had got engaged to Zoya, which he thought to be a fake one. He thought or at least tried to believe it to be one.
But fate had something else planned for them. Whenever they would try to reason with his ammi that they supposedly can't tie a knot and blemish a paak rasam just to prove a point to others, his ammi would turn deaf ears. They were made to do all the ceremonies related to Nikah.
The Jashan-e-Saugat, yesterday, flashed before his eyes. She looked mesmerizing in a turquoise colored lehenga. He couldn't keep his eyes away from her ever for a fraction of second. She getting dressed for him, her lowered eyes, she blushing due to his intense gaze made his heart pace up with a renewed feeling, that she would be his, forever. Asad had a sudden urge to touch her crimson red cheeks and her finger where he slipped their engagement ring and kiss her there. Only Allah knew how he controlled his growing feelings towards her. If it were not for the people gathered for the ceremony, he would have cornered her to a wall and make out there and then.

Asad was brought out of his trance by his Ammi's voice. "Asad, stop checking out on your fianc and come and join her for breakfast."
He felt embarrassed being caught swooning. He sighed and walked to his chair. He saw his ammi and Tamatar getting ready to go somewhere. Dilshaad noticed his confusion and answered, "I and Najma are going to invite everyone for Istikhara."
"Ammi, there's no need for all this. Can't we keep it simple?"
And that was it. Asad, can't you just keep your mouth shut. He face palmed for the rest of the conversation.
"Every mother has a dream for her child to get married in a grand way with all the ceremonies and with the blessings of elders." She said it dreamily before adding, "Can't you do this for me, for my reputation? I want my son to get married before I shut my'"
"Ammi please. Don't say that again." He retorted.
"Then you have to stop snooping everywhere. Just do as I say." Dilshaad stated.
He could hear muffled giggling from Najma and Zoya due to the scolding Asad got. Asad gave them one of his deadpan look.
"We will be back in two hours. Have your breakfast before heading to office," Dilshaad turned to Zoya and said, "See to it that he eats and DON'T FIGHT." She patted her shoulder before leaving the house with Najma.
"Ammi, where's Tanveer?" Asad asked just as Dilshaad was to open the front door.
"She had some work so she left early. Allah hafiz."
So they were alone. He sighed again.

Asad glanced at the table which was overflowing with all kinds of delicacies from bread-jam to cereals to kheer and puris. Zoya severed him with his coffee and filled his plate with pancakes when she asked, "Where do I place this?"
"On my head." He said exasperated. He was tired of the constant teasing from his ammi and baby sister. He did not wish to eat anything.
"Ok then'" Zoya replied.
Asad begins to say something. He did not believe her when he felt a wet clammy substance on top of his head. He tilted forward and strawberry jam come running down.
"There we go Jammy," she stated, flashing a victorious smile on her face while fluttering her long eye lashes. What does he think of himself? Tannu ka jammy. Humph. Now have it.
She strode to her seat trying hard not to laugh at the sight before her. Asad gave her a disgusted look. He was flabbergasted by her actions. He stayed there motionless for sometime before something strike him seeing her giggling. So you wanna play? Ahaan, alright then. He smirked while strolling over to her. He poured a bowl full of milk down the back of her shirt.
Zoya jumped out of her chair. "What the.. You pussyfoot." She picked up a pancake from his plate and forced it into his mouth.
"Haha... isn't it yummy, Mr. Khan?" she said sarcastically.
Asad grabbed her arm and said, "Yes, it's yummy. Won't you try it?"
Her eyes widened to his reply. She was trapped in her own game. And before she could do anything, he grabbed her by the waist and dragged her to the other side of the table after placing the pancake on his plate again.
"Miss. Farooqui, that was so kind of you to offer me the pancakes when I didn't need them. Now, here let me get you something to eat."
Asad leaned forward over to the platter of chocolate pastries.
Zoya's eyes widened to match the size of a saucer. She shook her head. "Don't you dare Mr. Khan."
"Give me a reason not to or do you have one?" he said daring her to apologize to him for her actions.
She remained quiet for some time and when she was to speak up something, Asad clutched a hand full of pastries and smears it all over her face and neck.
"How about these? Aren't they tasty?" he said raising his brow and releasing her from his grip.
"Oh yeah, they are but won't you like to try some?" she said taking some of it from her cheeks and smashing it on his face.
He was stunned but continued the play. "I think you missed the bowl of kheer there." He eyed to a bowl of kheer next to the platter of pancakes.
"No. Please Asad, I beg you." She screamed looking at the devilish smile that curved on his face.
Asad. Allah! My name sounds like a melody from your mouth. I wonder why you call me Mr. Khan every time. I swear I'll make you call my first name from now on. No more Mr. Khan.
Zoya pleaded him not to do anything with the kheer, for the umpteenth time. But were her pleas going to be answered?
"Your sweet pleas won't help this time. I wish you wouldn't have done this at the first place." He flung down the bowl of kheer on her head, laughing evilly.
Zoya managed to get hold of it before he dumped everything on her and pushed the bowl back on him. She was pushing it so hard on him that he lost his balance on the now slippery floor and fell, taking Zoya with him.
