Sachin-Jigar spice up their dhokla connect with the dopey soundtrack of Friday release Go Goa Gone | ||
How did Go Goa Gone happen? Sachin: We scored the music for Shor in the City for Raj (Nidimoru) and (Krishna) D.K. and since then we have shared a good rapport. In Bollywood it is difficult to find like-minded people to work with. Raj and D.K. know how we work and we know what they are looking for. Jigar: Sachin and I met nine-and-a-half-years back and it was music that connected us. Then we became friends. We are not brothers but we both are Gujarati. This dhoklaconnection also helped us bond (laughs). Since then we have been working together. We were previously making music for theatre and TV shows but one day Pritam sir called us. He encouraged us to compose music for films. Monday blues gets beautifully captured in the song Khoon choos le... Sachin: From a sabjiwala to the MD of a company, all of us have to go back to work on Monday. We were tired of doing the same romantic numbers, so we tried this song. It's a fun number. You have sung Slowly slowly. Do you plan to sing more songs? Jigar: I sang it because the directors wanted me to sing it. I don't consider myself a great singer because one needs formal training. Slowly slowly is a club track in which sound is important. From soft numbers like Saibo (Shor in the City) and Bezubaan (ABCD: Any Body Can Dance) to peppy tracks like Char baj gaye (F.A.L.T.U.) and Karma is a bitch(Shor...), your music is really varied... Jigar: Directors now want different types of music. After Saibo we thought Remo sir wanted something like Char baj gaye but boom... he wanted a soulful number and that encouraged us to make Bezubaan. When Raj and D.K. did Go Goa Gone, they wanted a party song, so we did something like Slowly slowly... Scripts are our inspiration. Slowly slowly has a dopey feel to it? Sachin: The guys in the film are totally whacked out! The film is wacky and the song is based on a rave party. And rave parties are all about dope, alcohol and good music. And that's what Slowly slowly expresses. There is quite a buzz with Babaji ki booti... Sachin: It is a dope song for dopers! It's a wacky number. It would've been foolish to feature "proper" singers for this song, so we got Kunal (Khemu), Vir (Das), Anand (Tiwari), Raj, D.K., Jigar and myself. The song sounds unique, funky and spaced out. From composing music for plays to serials to working with Rajesh Roshan and Pritam, how have you evolved as musicians? Jigar: Our experience started with Rajesh Roshan where we assisted him in movies likeKoi' Mil Gaya, Krrish and Krazzy 4 and both of us learned how film music is made. And then working with Pritam sir was different. Where Rajesh Roshan used to do one song in 10 days, with Pritam sir we had to make 10 songs in one day! Then independently we worked with Anu Malik and Nadeem-Shravan. Which song are you listening to in loop now? Sachin: I am listening to Tum hi ho from Aashiqui 2... I am a big fan of Mithoon. And Jigar is hooked to Battle Studies, for he is a big fan of John Mayer. A movie you wished you had composed music for? Jigar: Personally I would love to do something like Jodhaa Akbar; I like larger-than-life music. Also, I would love to do something like The Lion King and Avatar! Your upcoming projects? Sachin: Prabhudeva's Ramaiya Vastavaiya and Yash Raj's untitled film (directed by Maneesh Sharma) starring Parineeti Chopra and Sushant Singh Rajput. Jigar: The YRF film is at present called Production Number 43! |
There's great news for Sushant Singh Rajput fans who are surely growing in numbers with every passing day! The television star who made a successful transition to the big screen with Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che this year, will be doing one more film with the intelligent director.
We hear that Abhishek ' who has given two delicious films Rock On!! and Kai Po Che! - is now all set for his next based on Charles Dickens classic Great Expectations. Sushant will portray the character of an orphan called Philip Pirrip aka Pip.
Producer Ekta Kapoor and Abhishek believe that the dude has the potential to carry the role on his shoulders. We also hear that the screenplay of this untitled flick is being worked on and the project and its starcast will be announced soon.
PS: But hey what's with the filmmaker? We tried to contact him to wish him for his wonderful movie Kai Po Che, but we hear he lost his cellphone on a trip to some undisclosed locale. Thankfully, he's back in town now and we expect more path-breaking films from AK in the days to come! More power to him!
