Saugaat
Asad Ahmed Khan at the ladies' store.
It must be quite a spectacle to those who knew him closely, thought Asad as he scanned the store for something that would catch his eye. If his very presence in the store was not appalling enough, the reason for his being there was even more so. He was there to buy a gift for Ms. Farooqui of all people, and that too, for their Mehfil-e-Saugaat function.
Nakli Mehfil-e-Saugaat, he reminded himself.
It was ridiculous, the number of times he had to remind himself that his engagement with Zoya was fake.
Not real.
Unreal, that was what it felt though, and it made a hell lot of difference. And why he felt so, he knew not. Or did he?
Well, the question could wait for now, thought Asad, as he had more pressing matters at hand, the gift he was supposed to buy now for instance. Asad was absolutely clueless as to what to buy, what Ms. Farooqui would like. Of course, he could have just bought something random, or even sent one of his office boys to get something. After all, this was a fake engagement. But somehow, it did not feel right. For some reason, he felt the need to personally go and get something for her, something she would like, something she would cherish. And here he was, in a ladies' store, the last place anyone would think him to be in.
His eyes continued to scan the ridiculously pink territory that the store was, when something caught his eye. It reminded him of something. Something that belonged to her, yet he liked to keep, strangely enough.
It was not an exact copy though, but close enough. That should do, thought Asad as he asked the sales girl to pack it, and proceeded to pay, quite satisfied with his choice.
...to be contd.
