Episode 261 Discussion: 2nd May 2013

Welcome to the Episode discussion thread which we call as Viewer's and Reader's Respite. That's very apt, don't you think ? 😉. And that proves our objective.

Objective behind the thread is

It helps in keeping the forum clean without much litter. People just need to fall in a habit.
We can have it like breathers at first followed by analysis.
It also helps like-minded souls and pals bond and gel together to drop in their thoughts for themselves as breathers and for their friends as a peep into the episode and for others to post their reviews.
And those from different time-zones, who do not get to watch the episode at this time of telecast (Indian 8:30 PM), without any worry to trace or keep track of all their buddy's posts, they can come here, read with leisure and later post their analysis after watching it from their Time zones.

Note for Newcomers to this thread.

Extremist thoughts and moralizing thoughts are not welcome over this thread. It is entertainment show we are watching. The channel calls their programs as entertainment and we are watching the show. Discussions are welcome in light hearted and in realistic manner. Moral policing is not appreciated. We do not want to feel stifled into that kind of atmosphere here.

There are several other social welfare sites that are there to discuss the genuine issues. If for some reason, it is felt that social concerns have to be addressed and ethical and moral responsibility needs to be exercised for watching entertainment, then; certainly the forum is an open place to create separate ATs and build up that kind of propaganda.

Please heed to this as direct request and conditional requirement to participate in this thread. Strong words such as psychopaths unless used in show, need not be used to instigate riotous atmosphere or start sermonizing.

POINTERS for Writing/Posting of your reviews and thoughts over this EDT

Do not litter the thread with chit-chat conversations. A little is permitted to have the friendly atmosphere, but when you feel like chatting more, it is desired you take your conversation with your buddies to alternate venues like chat clubs, pm mode etc.
Quoting Policy: It is desired that people refrain from single, double, triple and multiple quoting of posts on a repetitive basis. They can pick out the parts that they like to quote as opposed to quoting the entire post. It is often seen that we have to scroll through the pages when all they have done is quoting and more quoting with one line response to the actual post. IF has a rule that more than three times quoting is not allowed. But nowadays as people read IF posts over phone, it is preferred that people do not quote longer posts and just extract the portions of the post that they like to respond to and if they still find it relevant to their thought process then get the entire quoted text.
Regulate the font size. Keep remembering that. It is really not pleasing to see big bolded letters for no special reason.
The thread becomes a mess when you give your review and do not REST for sometime until others have posted. Please understand, respites or reviews; once or twice are good for few pages...don't make a regular chat thread with your reiterating/whining/complaining on the same point. For the online readers, the thread becomes unpleasant read. There is a separate Complaints thread in Main Forum.
When episodic content is emotional, take a deep breath, give a good lengthy review; that acts as your vent in one single post...and make an exit to calm down your nerves if you still are possessed by only what you've seen.

Episode 261 Discussion - EOD Summary

Suhagan Puja at RK mansion thwarted by divine intervention, Radhaji-Dipali conversation about Madhu's odd behavior

Events Of The Episode

1. Dipali tells Madhu that she has already lied in front of the people, now let's see how much truth Madhu is able to speak in front of the God and how much she lies . Madhu is in deep thought after Dipali's departure.

2. Preparations for Suhagan Puja in full swings. Radhaji welcomes the ladies.Madhu is not downstairs yet so Radhaji inquires to Dipali about Madhu. Dipali assures her that she will be downstairs momentarily. She further tells Radhaji that Madhu has complete faith in God so she will not be able to resist herself. Radhaji feels assured by Dipali's words. Dipali however is sure that she will be able to prove to Radhaji that Madhu is not here for RK's love. Radhaji is getting all restlss due to no-show by Madhu but is relieved to see Madhu all decked up slowly descending the stairs. Dipali can't believe her eyes. Radhaji calls Madhu and introduces her to few ladies as Rishu's patni. Radhaji praises her cooking skills and is dreaming about celebrating all future festivals with chhotasa Rishu aur pyarisi Madhu. Madhu feels upset and she excuses herself to go to the kitchen. Dipali follows her in the kitchen and reminds her that time has come for Madhu for her talk of sachhi zoothi baatein with her bhagvan. Madhu ignores her and leaves from there.

3. The pooja begins, Panditji starts chanting mantras. Madhu is called to start performing Puja. Madhu is nervous. Panditji is narrating the importance of woman, her purity, her duties to her pati's family, upholding family values, honor etc. This disturbs Madhu greatly. Panditji asks her to offer ghee to agni. Madhu remembers Padmini's words about not forgetting her limits. Deep in those thoughts, Madhu picks up water kalash instead of the ghee and pour it over havan kund effectively dousing the fire. Everyone is shocked. Madhu is stunned. Radhaji asks Panditji to restart fire however Panditji refuses to do so saying this is a ghor apshakun and puja cannot be continued. Radhaji asks Madhu how can she be so careless. Madhu has no explanation. She excuses herself saying she is unwell.

4. Madhu comes back to the bedroom and starts sobbing. She apologizes to Radhaji saying she could not lie in front of her and God.She could not make false promises. Downstairs Radhaji apologizes to everyone for the fiasco in the puja and they all leave. Dipali says to Radhaji that she is worried about Madhu and tries to leave. Radhaji asks her to speak frankly whatever is on her mind. Dipali says Madhu does not want the world to know that she has returned to RK. She tells Radhaji that from the time Madhu has returned by her own choice, she is coming across as a different person. When RK had brought her here first time forcefully that time she did all rituals religiously and now when she has come by her own marzi, she is being careless. Dipali tells Radhaji it looks like Madhu has not returned as Radhaji's bahu or for RK's love. She thinks this is part of some big lie, big plan Madhu is concocting. These words shock and disgust Radhaji.

5. Radhaji tells Dipali that being badi badhu of the family, she needs to make sure harmony prevails amongst al the family members and if any mistake happen, then instead of complaining she needs to help in correcting that mistake. She further tells Dipali that Madhu is part of this family and leaves. A shamefaced Dipali is in deep thoughts when Sikki comes there and enquires about her red face. She tells Sikki that she is quite confident that coming days are going to be full of comfort. She think even if this puja plan failed, she still holds the trump card namely Sultan and the day she uses that trump card, chawlbala will be out of RK's life. Episode ends.

TRP and GRP Ratings - Week 17 - 22nd April to 28th April

And the TRP saga: MB dropped to #7 from #4 last week. Post-IPL start of April 3rd, TRPs for all shows have been been stabilizing over the last couple of weeks. Sadly, MB is stabilizing at a lower level. TRPs were 2.7, same as last week and the two weeks prior, see chart below:

Note: does not take into consideration impact of adding new markets at various points. Size, viewing patterns, demographics, level of digitization etc. of those markets would impact TRPs. Also, hard to judge IPL's exact impact

If you look at the TRP trends for MB, they have been on a downward drift for a while now - not good for a show that had TRPs in the 3-5-3.8 range for several months before February. The issue that I see with this downward sloping trend is that it indicates the loyal viewer base is being continuously eroded, and it might be hard for the show to win back these viewers once they have left.

Saurabh Tewari has always maintained that content drives TRPs, and not the other way around. I am assuming that the channel and PH are satisfied with a steady state of 2.5 - 2.8 level TRPs. If not, then perhaps its time for them to take a hard look at these numbers and figure out what the issues with the content are. And/or, read the EDT thread for pointers! Several of us on the EDT have commented about how there seems to be an unending supply of negativity, plus weak characterization of new additions to track. My view is this show is a love story, and the lack of positivity in the storyline, and feel good moments is having an impact on TRPs.

And then finally, a comparison to other top 10 shows. Looking at the chart below which shows TRP increase/drop from last week, most of them did better than last week. The blue bars are the ones that did better, the red are the ones that did worse, and the no bars (ex. MB) are the ones that were the same. Bottom-line is that most shows did better last week than the week before.

Just a small review for RK less episode..

Madhu spoiling the pooja on purpose means a lot...we need not write anything, Dipali did the honours today...it's obvious that Radha won't believe her so easily , but very soon when the truth will be out, along with RK-Madhu, Madhu Radha rishta will suffer a setback ! beyond repair...

Dipali didn't do anything and her scheme was successful ..Madhu has a long way to go..choti si problem handle nahi kar saki...How will she match to RK and Dips antics? 😆

another bad omen, something real bad is coming up...but Madhu cannot escape the consequences as we've been discussing so far..Dips is waiting to play her "Sultan" card..i don't think she can throw out Madhu from RK's life so easily now..RK Dips ka band baja dega...uski destruction par bas haq hai Madhu ka !

Precap..whatever ! I remember Soundarya's words whenever RK gets defensive about Madhu...stand in line whoever hurted RK's biwi ! 🤣 it's not surprising that he's supporting Madhu against his mom...with all other men i can give endless lectures on balancing relationships, specially b/w mom and biwi but with him, no way ! dhanya dhanya RK, pehle hi haath jod liye maine, he's a gone case, samjhane ka koi faida nahi hai ! He won't let his mom or her mom have a say, he's cleared it long back...

PS aaj PEHLI baar kisi ne baby RK aur baby Madhu ki baat ki..Radha ki sab galtiyan maaf 😆

@Bold...That has been my biggest issue with Madhu's plan...Rk felt nothing for anyone , he hated Madhu, he was an atheist, a self-declared devil who held nothing sacred and everyone had pretty much given on him...he tried to minimize the damage to the extended relationships by keeping the impact of worst of blows in private even then almost all the parties were impacted.

However Madhu has none of those luxuries or excuses...she has a bond with everyone, she was supposedly in love with RK and has immense faith in God. There is immense expectations from her from both the families and she has no way of limiting the damage. The way she is behaving , there is nothing that is going to be private ...this is going to be a very public war...Dips and Sultan will make sure of that. She does not wield the power or has the media smarts RK had ...The day she hurts RK...she hurts everyone associated with him directly and indirectly ...the ripples will reach back to Maliks and her too. She does not have the luxury of giving excuses...after all she has always said that she is not emotionally bankrupt like RK and holds the higher moral ground. RK had the power to try and fix his mistake and I think he is trying to in his own way...she would be left with nothing to fix...the destruction will be so complete.

There is immense difference between the impact of RK's revenge and Madhu's revenge at many levels.

Forget Radha...imagine what Bittooji will feel who had quit his job for her and later begged her to come back in life of his chief and be his emotional anchor. If he could beat Shamsher for RK, imagine what he would do to woman who destroys his chief forever.

Along with RK she ends up betraying everyone ...I wonder if she can live with herself after that...it is a foolhardy plan but ones who know are not talking some sense into her much to my frustation.

Pillows are Mr. India for everyone in the show but only visible to MB, RK and us ( the viewers)😆.

Radha: Hello Panditji. How are you? My elder bahu had a brainwave last night and we have decided to conduct a Suhagan Puja at our home today. Please come at XYZ time

Pandit: Suhagan Puja? I have never heard of such a thing conducted in all my life. Are you sure you are asking the correct one?

Radha: <Impatient> Yes, yes I know what I am talking about. Just please come over.

Pandit: <calls AIPA (All India Pandit Association> Sir, I have been called at Kundra Nivas for a religious ceremony. Since this family has a black mark in our file, I thought I should inform you in advance.

somone at AIPA: Yes yes, make sure this time you do not leave their house before ceremony is finished, no matter what. Yeh hamari izzat ka sawal hai, samze na aap?

At RK Mansion

Radha decks up Madhu who is thinking kahin yeh log muze shadi ke mandap mein toh nahin khade karne ki soch rahen hai?

Pandit arrives at the same time Madhu gets down from the stairs. They both recognize each other from the unwedding night.

Pandit: <shocked> Aap? Yahan?

Madhu: <Shocked as well> Aap? Yahan? Kya RK ne aap ko yahan per bulaya hai?

Pandit: <Not listening> So did you go ahead and finish your remaining 3 pheras the other day? Did you have any other Pandit on the stand by that day?

Madhu: <Confused> Huh? What are you talking about?

Radha: Aaiye Pandit ji, let us begin the Suhagan Puja. Madhu I have applied red bindi and put gold bangles on you. Don't worry this is a simple Suhagan Puja that you will perform today. Surprised na? All credit goes to Dipali for coming up with this spectacular idea to put a smile on your face.

Madhu: <Relieved that this is not an attempt to get her married without informing her>

Pandit: <Indignant, Determined> Dekhiye, it is my sworn duty to inform you in advance that my mission for the day is to perform this Puja come what may. I don't care how long I have to be here but I will not go from here till this Puja is performed. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

Radha: <confused>
Madhu: <Super confused>
Dipali: <Smirking>

Later when Madhu accidently douses the fire by pouring water on it.

Radha: <Shocked>
Madhu: <Stunned>
Dipali: <Smirking with abandon>
Pandit: <Wailing Loudly. Beating his chest, stamping his feet on the floor with a crazed look on his face saying> Kyun? kyun yeh mere hi saath ho raha hai Bappa !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bappa: <disgusted resigned look on his face>

Hey bhagwan, mein kahan phas gaya. Muze in pagal insanon se koi toh bachaooo!!!
