Hey guys, I am back with another story. I am a literature student specializing in a play called Romeo and Juliet. It is a play I both love and hate. Contrary to popular belief. It isn't a love story, it is a tragedy. So I thought of writing a story very loosely based on it. There won't be any dying or anything like that. It is like a modern Romeo and Juliet story. All the characters will be very similar to the ones in the play..so without further ado here is the character sketch.
The shekawats (capulets)
Taani shekawat (Juliet ): A sweet, polite and simple girl, she is extremely obedient towards her parents who are not as affectionate as they can be. She lives in her world of dreams to be free and explore the world but has no courage to go after it. She is very reserved and has had only one friend her entire life. The daughter of an illustrious businessman she has everything she had ever wanted...or does she?
Rishi shekawat (lord capulet) : he is a principled and strict individual. He loves his daughter dearly but could never express it. He has achieved great heights in the business world because of his father, but he never wanted to be known by his father. He owns the shekawats institute of dance one of the biggest in the world. The only person who could compete with him is Ranvijay singhania , a man he hates with all his heart.
Vaishnavi shekawat (lady capulet ) : a typical high society women who loves attending parties. She loves her daughter too but not as much as she loves her lifestyle. She does not have strong feelings for her husband as she was forced into getting married to him by her father as a business deal with his father. She hates two things ; revealing her actual age and vidya singhania
Swayam shekawat ( tybalt ): he redefines the term angry young man. A fiery young man, everything he does or feels is extreme. Be it care, love or hate. He is a loner as people are afraid of his untimely anger and temper. The only person he has a soft spot for is for his cousin taani whom he loves dearly and is extremely possessive about. He gels well with his uncle as they both share a common hate for all things singhania, especially a certain young man names reyansh singhania.
The singhanias (montagues)
Reyansh singhania ( Romeo ): a disciplined and respectful boy, he is well liked by everyone, be it children or the elderly . He is can be very immature and confused at times. He is in love with the idea of falling in love. He falls in 'love' each time with another hope of finding the right girl. He is very indifferent towards his parents as they do not spend time with him, so he has no hate in his fathers rivals nor does he care about them , but all that will change soon...
Ranvijay singhania ( lord montague): money makes the world go round is the line he lives by. His story is of the typical rags to riches one . From a poor man he had become extremely rich in a very short time astounding all the top businessmen. He is the owner of the singhania dance academy which is almost the top institute in the world. He only has one more man to beat and he won't rest till he wins. His resolve to win is fueled only by his hate for rishi shekawat.
Vidya singhania ( lady montague): she is a blunt and sarcastic person who is very straight forward. She is not like the other ladies of her status who puts on a mask. She hates mrs shekawat for her falseness. She however loves her husband unconditionally but fails to connect to her son. She tries but fails every time.
Vikramjeet singhania ( benvolio) : he is Rey's best friend and also cousin. Known to all as vicky .He also has no interest in hating the shekawats like Rey.He does not believe in love as he has seen rey getting hurt many times. He is Rey's main support system and vidya often looks to him to help Rey since she can't do it herself.
Other characters :
Sharon raiprakash (nurse): outspoken,loud and frank Sharon can come across as rude, but in reality she is just very honest. She is quite the opposite of taani which is why they get along so well. She is taani's only friend and person she tells everything to. She is the daughter of rishi's friend and she has a secret crush on swayam ( changing the character a lot here)
Nilesh Gandhi ( mercutio): he is the main source of comedy here. Smooth talker and is a play boy. He is another good friend of Rey's . He is often confused like Rey too. He is a very smart guy who cares a lot about Rey and Vicky . He is known as nil as he hates the name nilesh.
V.p sir [ mr Gandhi ] ( prince escalus) : he is the principle of the college Rey , Vicky and nil attend which is St. Louis . though he is Neil's father, he is not biased towards him and is always fair to everyone. He is the ultimate voice of authourity here.
Professor karan Malik ( friar Lawrence ): he is the coolest professor ever . Loved by all especially Rey. To Rey he is like a father to him. Rey shares all the things he should share with his father with him. He calls him prof and they maintain a very informal relationship with each other.
Shivam dholakia ( count Paris ) : he is not a negative character here. He has been in love with taani for years now but has not been able to say it. He is a well sorted guy who already at such a young age has done many things. He has already maintained a good impression on her parents but taani is unaware of his feelings for her and considers him her friend.
Kriya ghai ( Rosaline) : she is also not a negative character. She appears very less in the story . She had just rejected Rey as she has already been engaged which has sent Rey into depression
What happens when hate collides? what happens When two who were not destined for each other meet?
Taani's father had transferred her into a new college st.Louis. Why she does not know, but she does know she can never disobey Him. She wonders why he had sent her to enemy territory but does not doubt him. What about rishi shekawat ?are his motives completely innocent or is there another reason for that? One fueled by utter and blind hatred.
Rey who is currently undergoing his umpteenth heartbreak has finally decided to give up on love but will he be able to especially when fate has something else in store for him.
