Well she was supposedly having her dream wedding the last time, and look what happened. Their parents can come to the court, right? That is if Hitesh's parents ever dare to defy UmaBen's orders. That's another reason why I want them to be married off quietly. Imagine they're at this lavish wedding party and UmaBen comes and starts insulting the bride and her family and friends- that would just kill the ceremony. Besides, everyone has their own preferences. If I am allowed to, I'll have a very quiet ceremony too, with just close family and friends. I personally think it's such a waste of time inviting long lost relatives like your mum's second cousin's saasuma's sister-in-law, who'll come , eat and then go home and criticise everybody and everything.

I agree, @SS88

I like what Hitesh said about the court marriage. People spend too much money on their weddings. Sometimes even entire life earnings go towards a daughter's wedding, not even including dowries! I understand that it may be the happiest, biggest day of your life, but really do you have to invite the Aunt's second cousin, twice removed and their neighbours too? Most people that come to big weddings are totally unknown to the actual bride and groom. The wedding somehow becomes a status symbol instead of a true bonding of two people.

It's nice to have a small wedding ceremony with a few people you truly care about. Hitesh made a smart decision.

There's no reason why parents can't be at the court wedding. To be honest if my wedding was called off this way I'd prefer a smaller private ceremony ( I would have done a small temple wedding rather than a court wedding). As ling as the people close to her are there that;s all that matters.

I am ok with court wedding. Parents can come to that. Purvi already has the "lavish" setup. Why go thru that again. Also, the expense...no home...remember. Don't know exactly what happened to the money that was initially given as dowry...did Purvi's dad get it back?
