MUMBAI, India: Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor says cutting meat from her diet keeps her weight in check.
She is happier, too, now that she is no longer responsible for killing animals, said a report Tuesday.
But the recent change in diet has her parents worried she is becoming too thin, Kapoor told the Mumbai Mirror newspaper.
"It's true that I used to love non-vegetarian food," the paper quoted her as saying. "But I feel good that I am not killing any animals these days."
Kapoor believes vegetarianism makes for healthier living, but her father, former actor Randhir Kapoor, does not buy the argument. Dismayed that small portions of lentils and flat Indian bread have replaced chicken and sea food, he regularly asks why she is not eating any more, she said.
Kapoor is one of India's top actresses and her family has produced several generations of stars in Bollywood, the name for India's prolific film industry.
Her most recent hit was "Omkara" a Bollywood version of Shakespeare's "Othello."
NEW DELHI, India: Indian model-turned-actor John Abraham isn't bothered by stories about his rivalry with fellow actor Salman Khan, a newspaper reported Tuesday.
Abraham shares screen time with Khan in the movie "Baabul" or "Parent's Home" and there have been news reports about Khan making snide remarks about his co-star and a squabble during the making of the film.
"All I can do is brush it off with a smile. I really don't have time for all this," Abraham was quoted as saying in the Times of India. "As far as I'm concerned, I'm very comfortable with everyone around me," he added.
There were no comments from Khan.
One of India's top models, Abraham, 33, started acting three years ago. Since then he has often been voted as one of Bollywood's sexiest stars in movie polls.
He has starred in several blockbuster movies since he struck fame in the 2004 hit "Dhoom" or "Big Bang." Apart from "Baabul," he is also currently starring in "Kabul Express," where he plays a television journalist covering the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan. Both films will hit
