There is so much critique on the forum about Farhan, replacing him, he can't act, etc etc. I thought this topic would lighten up everyone's mood!
Since Chanchan is a dog trainer and most people here seem to love Puchpuch and Anarkali, I wanted to know what kind of a dog would you like to own? Here's a list of my top 10 dream doggies and some research I did on them while helping my friend pick her dog a few months ago.
1. Siberian Husky
This is by far my favouritest dog!! They're amazingly strong and they howl like crazy. You can hear their howl 10 miles away! They're from Siberia, later brining them into Alaska where they're famous for dog sledding. The best feature are their gorgeous blue eyes. They're definitely built for the arctic – they have a really thick double coat which does need a lot of grooming. Definitely not a dog for tropical and sub-tropical areas. Only big problem for me is that they need A LOT of exercising. They can run for hours and not get tired.
2. Golden Retrievers
The perfect family dog ever! Apparently, they have "soft mouths" and they can grab eggs in their mouths and not break them! They are the most perfect dogs for playing fetch from water too! They even have webbed paws to help them in the water. They're extremely obedient dogs and have such great relationships with their owners. A puppy has lighter coats from what their adult coat will look like. They need lots of activity but they can really adapt. Unfortunately, hip problems are common. They need regular grooming.
3. Border Collie
The SMARTEST dog in the world! it's a great dog if you want to train them and if you have that time. They come from the border of England and Scotland and they are the perfect herders. They are very hyper, they will chase anything! They can have an intense "eye" focus. If you want to teach your dog some amazing tricks, then this is your dog! This is the perfect dog for a rural, open environment. It's a pretty easy to groom dog and don't have too many health issues.
4. Samoyed
These are called "smiling-dogs" because the always look like they're smiling! It has the fluffiest coat ever! They are one of the oldest breeds of dogs, coming from Siberia. But they disadvantage is that they shed like crazy! EVERY SINGLE DAY!! Their coat is usually white or biscuit or cream. Again, these dogs can overheat in warmer climates. They also need a lot of exercise and can get a lot of problems like diabetes.
5. Shiba Inu
They're so cute! They're incredibly loyal. A very old breed that comes from Japan. They have a really dense coat but not too fluffly. Their tails have this little flick that's adorable. The best thing about them is that they look a lot like a baby fox! They're a pretty health breed and can live up to 15 years or more. Grooming is only occasional but they are very difficult to train! They're very smart and won't do well in new dog owner families.
6. Great Pyrenees
These dogs come from Europe, named after the Pyrenees Mountains where they were used as guardian dogs. What I love the most about them is that they're more nocturnal than other dogs. They're very territorial as well. They were the "royal" dogs of France. Their fur coats only come in one colour – white. They're literally just big bundles of fur. They need a lot of exercise. Unfortunately, they're susceptible to bone cancer. Grooming is pretty intensive too. They're pretty giant and loyal but sometimes hard to train.
7. Akita
These dogs come from Japan. Only the ruling class was allowed to own them in Ancient Japan. Akitas are gorgeous dogs, unfortunately they are listed as high for aggression and biting. They're very territorial because they're primivite. They're closely related to the wolf genetically so it's able to climb really well and very active. They have a plush double coat fur. They have a lot of different colour patterns – my favourite is their tiger stripe pattern! They're very big so training is essential early on. Grooming is pretty intensive – you get hair everywhere! Not a great dog for smaller houses or if you have a lot of pets.
8. Pomeranian
Did you know that its one of the three canines that survived the TITANIC?! They are only 4-6 pounds, much less than their older ancestors. They are the biggest puffballs of fur! They have a VERY large, dense coat. Their ears are cute and look like little triangles. Poms are incredibly athletic and they demand a lot of attention. The good thing is that they can live in a lot of different areas but the biggest problem is that they bark a lot! They will keep you and your whole neighbourhood up all night.
9. Yorkshire Terrier
These are the perfect dogs for people with allergies! They have human-like hair, not fur! (Perfect for Manav!) . This is the second most popular breed in the world! They're so tiny but very feisty! Not great with kids. These dogs were actually bred for catching rats in England. They're only 5-7 pounds. Because their "fur" is really silky, they are easy to groom but does require a lot of energy. They're prone to tooth decay. The best thing about them is that they can live anywhere!
10. Pug
They are so cute with their smushed up faced!! I have these puppy twins that live a block away from me that are adorable! They come in black, fawn, apricot fawn and silver fawn. But they do have trouble breathing in warmer weather so India might not be the best choice for them to live. The cutest thing about them is their bulging eyes with a cute ring-like tail. Unfortunately, their eyes can pop out (no kidding) when there's too much pressure.
My friend eventually bought a Collie. There are so many breeds out there! I feel so bad for only choosing 10...There's so many more that I would love to own! What dogs would you like to own?
