(Chapter 11)
Girl Against the World
The international media, particularly the entertainment tabloids, took a liking to warm, exotic queen. Her encounters with the paparazzi had been short lived due to the lack of false news culture in the kingdom. Thus, she greeted these reporters with a similar degree of friendliness she did every other journalist or photographer. These random acts of kindness brought her in the good books of the American popular culture experts, fashion gurus, political pundits and reputed leaders alike. Let us face it, who in the right mind would not wish to be involved with a person receiving positive publicity.
The usual questioning of the existence of an ancient monarchy was looked over. The attention was focused on other issues such as the kingdom's contribution to solving world hunger. Over lunch, Madhubala had requested the EU to revoke Ranima's citizenship along with her rights to enter Europe. A plan yet to be discussed with Rishabh, this wise daughter of a prime minister would lie, cheat or steal in order to strategically lock out Rani's plan of exit. If accepted by the east and the west alike, Ranima would have no choice but to stay with the king's jurisdiction if she committed a crime. A few exchanged favours later, the big players agreed on her terms but, not without pestering her to expose the dirty laundry.
"Ranima is angry and unsettled, his majesty only plans to show her the rightful place", she gave a diplomatic answer hoping the smart ones would catch her reference.
Now, she was no longer another tabloid queen, she was the woman with the sharp wit. She was the ruler of a land valuable to many. The eyes of the world were set on the royals as Madhubala returned to motherland with a victorious grin.
To her surprise, her prince charming was not waiting at the airport. Yes, there were flocks of people gathered to catch a glimpse of their fairy queen. But, her eyes searched for the one who never came. Her team of personal bodyguards had been doubled over night and their was a body double making an exit before her to avoid certain death. She sensed the severity of the problem.
As she tried to break into his majesty's many locks and security codes, she could not help but smile at the personalized passwords. He had changed every single of them. The pins were no longer 16 character combinations of letters and numbers; they were the little things only the couple shared.
"What did you do to be me at the airport?" the digitalized voice asked.
"Take a swing at the prince".
"When did I first see you naked?"
The question was still monotonous but, she could sense it was not a machine but someone's decent impression of a robot.
"The hamman", she lowered her voice and her lashes, afraid someone might hear this silly exchange of words.
"How did you think I reacted?" Now, she had figured it out. Rishabh was on the other side, trying to pull her leg. She had to have the upper hand.
"You probably got a hard on", she chuckled.
"Shit, woman. You are making me flush. Just come in", Rishabh opened up the chamber doors and covered his face like a blushing bride.
She buried his face in her chest and spoke of the horrors ahead. "I got them to agree on stopping Ranima. She and her entourage are stuck, for better or for worse".
He heard her loud and clear but, his head was still focused on the losing argument.
"What? I am sorry. I was too distracted by the itty bitty titty committee".
"My king, where is your modesty?"
She covered up her bosoms.
"Same place you lost yours. Plus, you ain't the only one who knows American slang. I went to college there". He grinned, content with a well deserved win.
