Do you guys agree with Anandi about wearing clothes that are comfortable to her?

I don't know what to think. I'm conflicted because I definitely think its important to wear clothes that you feel comfortable in, but at the same time, I also think it's important to be professional as well and wear clothes that are appropriate for the environment you are in. I find sweat shirts and sweat pants comfortable, but that doesn't mean I can wear that out in public.

As for Anandi, I understand that she would rather wear ghangra choli instead of suits or saris, but she isn't even willing to try it. How does she know that wouldn't be comfortable.

I just want to know what you all think.

What i found about Anandi odd regarding cloths is that she always says that since she doesn't wear such clothes she won't wear them...it's not bad to change your attire once in while...forgetting your own style or trying to adopt a environment which does not suit you is not good but not being flexible about such things is also not good...i feel Anandi needs some life in her...she is really good but limited to her own area...she does not explore much about other things...she tries her best to make others easy about her culture but does not try to accomdate with their culture...trying new style does not make you modern or lose your identity and let's hope Shiv tries to make understand that.

she was forced by Jagya to wear them and sarees is almost like ghagra so no change in the way she wears both of them

What a wonderful topic of discussion! I haven't watched today's episoe yet, but did read the update..and I'm all up for sharing a few thoughts on Anandi's wardrobe! 😃
I agree with libsrocks that Anandi isn't really as adapting as she's made to seem. She's always enlightening others about her culture (which is great because Indian culture is, to this day, highly underestimated) but she isn't willing to take her horizons beyond the confines of Rajasthan!
The fact that she wore sarees instead of ghagras doesn't mean that she adapted to the Shekhar-lifestyle... instead, she just made an effort to please her sister-in-law. And with the current situation of her trying new clothes and not willing to wear anything but what she's comfortable in... fair enough, but as the topic maker pointed out, it is also important to wear clothes that are appropriate for a specific environment.
For example, she can't be roaming around in ghaghra cholis in the snow covered hills and valleys of Kashmir (she's not part of a Yash Chopra romance!)...she has to wear warm clothes (i.e. jackets, sweaters, denims) otherwise she'll freeze into a kulfi (despite the presence of her hot hubby šŸ˜†). I understand if she's not willing to sacrifice her jewelry or her pallu (it's like some women not willing to sacrifice their hijab or their sindoor or their mangalsutra)...but it's not like she's being asked to pose naked! Wearing a variety of eastern and western clothes doesn't mean that her body won't be as covered as it is in a ghaghra or a saree... it is quite possible to wear eastern clothes and not look like Ashima did when she came to India! In fact, if I remember correctly, Gauri wore kurits with long skirts and jeans in Mumbai and she didn't look inappropriate!
In Anandi's defense though, maybe she's skeptical about trying new styles of clothes because of the remarks Jagya made about her clothing when she went to Mumbai ... so I'm partially happy about her discomfort in this situation because it gives Shiv an opportunity to bring her out of that bubble of self-consciousness...it'll be a great step ahead in their relationship and will make for some fantastic episodes in my opinion!

No - do not take it by heart. She was quite off mood yesterday. And she is now Shiv ki diwani - just imagine if Shiv was there and asking her to wear some thing different, she would have gone gala and tried. Anandi is now just a typical biwi, pati parameshwar type. When you fall in love, you behave like that. She will gain herself soon.

i hope this happens...but the problem is that unlike 'ex-pati parameshwar' this 'pati parameshwar' is so accomadating that maybe he will not insist her to wear something different ...hope she does change her attire just to impress Shiv 😳...plus jeans kurti is more covered than saree...hope she does not wear skirt or else no difference in what she normally wears and what she changed into. šŸ˜†

I dont think she will wear jeans, perhaps just sarees (without pallu) and may be salwar kamij. Although jeans with coat/jacket will look better in Kashmir.

Thanks for all of your thoughts!

I don't think Shiv will insist that she wear something different, which is unfortunate.

I think it's strange for a person to not want to fit in and try something different. She is the only one in the whole house that looks completely different. At that age, most girls want to look like everyone else and fit in.

Of course comfort is a very important factor, but it is also important to look the part and to wear appropriate things for where you are. I'm not suggesting jeans and a top or western wear, but a normal salwar suit would be perfect. OR even a sari. I wouldn't care if she wears it in the Gujarati/Rajasthani style...But at least it would help her fit in more compared to the ghagra choli.

I have seen some Rajasthani women wearing ghagra on tourist spots,
they look kind of out of crowd. It would be nice if anandi wear saree n suit in kashmir, she can wear in any style with out covering head with pallu of saree. one has to change little bit , being stern about their tradional dress is kind of stubborn attitude.
