***Part 3***
They finally landed in Paris. They had checked in to their hotel at 10 AM and it was 6 PM now. Manvi was on phone with her best friend who lives in London with her husband.
"Mannu, tu kab aaa rahi hai milne? It has been so long, I am dying to see you." Her friend asked excitedly.
"Virat so raha hai Jeevs, subaaah se so raha hai, kitna gussa aa raha hai bata nahi sakti" she cribbed.
She was going to freshen up and he was going to take her around. By the time she got ready, he had fallen asleep like a log, snoring loudly. She wanted to wake him up a couple of times but looking at him sleep so peacefully, she didn't have the heart to.
Jeevika, her friend laughed "Mannu, I am very excited to see you both, we have hardly spend any time after your marriage. It would be so much fun, just like old times, please comeby as soon as you can. Viren is very excited to meet with Virat again. He always tells me what a good listener he is."
Jeevika and Manvi went to school and college together in London. Virat had come to London for his studies and that's where he met Manvi. He fell in love with her. They got married within an year after they started dating and moved to India soon after.
"Virat is excited too Jeevs, chalo, I think his majesty has finally woken up, will call you after we plan everything. Love you." She hung up.
Manvi stood in front of Virat, hands on her hips, looking very angry, as he lazily stretched with a broad smile. "What's time is it baby?" he asked cuddling a pillow and closing his eyes again with an angelic smile.
OK. Enough is enough. Manvi snatched the pillow from under him and started hitting him. "Virat, you.. you.. you are a lazy, useless husband. I cannot believe you slept the whole day. If you only had to sleep, you could have slept in your office like you always do. Why come all the way here??"
"Manvi! Manviii! Manviii! kyu maar rahi ho yaar??" He tried to catch the pillow with which she seemed to have decided to kill him. "Stop it yaar, it's just that I had a very busy week, I didn't get much sleep. And it's not my fault you take a million years to get ready. Why didn't you wake me up??" he asked.
"Ohh..that is just perfect.. go ahead blame me. Ofcourse everything is my fault. I hate you Virat. I cannot believe I married such an unromantic guy - who comes to Paris with his wife and sleeps - that too snoring loud enough for her ears to explode. Jeevs has called me so many times. She has been waiting for us and you are'arghhh"
"Ohh hello..What are talking about? This trip is just you and me. Please baba, I don't want to meet any friends, no social gathering, no parties. I am sick and tired of them. Just me and you. Please."
"Kya? Jeevs is like family, she is my best friend. How can you say that Virat?"
"Speaking about family? Why don't we meet your real family? Your mom..huh? I am ok with that. I have seen her like once at our marriage. And besides Jeevika hates me and her husband is so boring, he starts talking about tupperware and organic food. I swear to god, I will kill him if I hear another word about his herbal garden or his eco-friendly shower." He said in a daze recollecting the frightening memories of his last meeting with Viren making a funny face.
He turned towards Manvi who sat down beside him looking sad. She did not like her mother and whenever Virat asked about her, she just refused to talk about it and would act weird and aloof. She had invited her to the wedding like she would invite a colleague from work. She did not entertain any phone calls or gifts from her.
"Manvi" he hugged her from behind. "I am sorry, it's just that, I would be nice to know more about your family. But we don't have to do anything that you don't like. This holiday is all about my beautiful and sexy wife." He tried to divert her attention.
Manvi gave him a small smile looking back. "I don't have any other family apart from you Virat." she said with a hint of pain.
Virat regretted broaching this topic. "That means more time for me." he said pulling her in tightly. "And duh what are we talking about anyways?" he rolled his eyes.
"How about we continue our little make out session from the plane??" he said moving the hair away from her shoulder to the other side, nuzzling her neck. Manvi closed her eyes and blushed sweetly forgetting everything else.
"Have mercy darling, you are going to kill me someday with that smile of yours." Virat said looking at her with oh-so-smitten expression.
"OK Mr. Romeo. Are you only going to talk or do you have any plans to take me out??" she inquired standing up, breaking away from him.
"If it was upto me, I would just lock you in my arms like this for the next two weeks." He stood up and pulled her into his arms.
She smiled and hugged him back resting her head on his chest. "Chalo na Virat!" she asked nicely.
"hmmm'ok I will take you out now but on one condition."
Manvi looked up at him coyly. "Kya?" she asked very well knowing where this was going.
"You are going to wear that red dress I got for you when we come back, for me."
"Virat!!!!! that is not a dress, that is like what you wear inside a dress."
"I know." He smiled naughtily and winked.
"In your dreams mister!!!!!!" she pushed him away. "Sharam nahi aati tumhe, apne biwi ko aaise kapre gift karthe?"
"accha? Toh kya karu? Kisi aur ke biwi ko gift karu?" he asked outraged, pretending all offended.
"Kiski biwi?" Manvi asked inquisitively, her eyes popping out.
'You are not going to listen to me like this.' Virat though and hatched a plan in his head.
"Ok fine. I am going back to sleep then. Good niiight. Let me know if you change your mind about the dress." He went back to the bed and pretended to sleep cuddling his pillow again.
"What? I have waited for you all day and'. You know what, I am going by myself - aaand I might or might not come back. Aaand you know what else..I might or might not find myself a hot french guy to take me around Paris." she said angrily grabbing her handbag and wearing her shoes.
Virat's eyes flew open and he jumped out of the bed. He knew better than to ignore her threats. "Nahi nahi Manvi, kaisi baat kar rahi ho meri jaan. My network will follow wherever you go. Twenty four hours, seven days a week, husbands kis kaam ke liye hote hai. Give me five minutes baby."
Manvi looked at him angrily tapping her feet slowly holding the door knob as he hurriedly got dressed up as someone pressed the fast forward button. He stood before her, ready to go in less than five minutes. "Shall we darling?" he gave her his arm.
