Kaun Banega Crorepati's new avatar with Shah Rukh Khan on Star Plus' primetime (9-10 pm) has put a question mark on the future of the two new shows currently on air in the same time band — Viraasat and Karam Apna Apna.
The shows, on air for just a few months, have two big production houses behind them — BR Films and Balaji Telefilms, respectively. "They will be off air for sometime."
Since KBC will have a three-month run, these soaps can take a break and come back. However, that is one of the options," informs Shailja Kejriwal, senior creative director of Star Plus.
Going by the mammoth launch exercise by the channel before the shows' debut, is there no other option? "They could either be shifted to one of our other channels or get re-slotted on Star Plus. We are yet to take a call on the status of these soaps. The channel will like to hold on to them," says Shailja.
The ground realities seem different. Viraasat, despite a strong star cast and script, has failed to capture the audience's imagination like Star's other prime-time shows (Kyunkii, Kahani, Kasauti). And Karam Apna Apna has had problems right from the start.
Viraasat's producer Ravi Chopra, however, said Star is yet to inform him about the status of the serial. "But if we need to take a break, we will end it in such a way that the audience will eagerly await its comeback," he says
I think if they do this...then Iqbal can take his break during this time and also come back when KBC is over😃...it would be the perfect soloution for both Ekta and Iqbal😳
