Off late, there are so many TV shows that have desi actors in important roles. Some of them are very impressive in their roles too. They would have been tagged as average lookers in India but in US they are really popular among the Americans.
Mindy Kaling
Almost all Indians I know bash her that she is downright ugly. But, she has was popular in 'The office' and she has also created her own sitcom 'The Mindy Project' that has been renewed for a second season. I am not a big fan of her but I admire her accomplishment.
Jessica Lucas:
She is half pakistani, currently in a twisted TV show called 'Cult'. She was also in 'Evil Dead' movie that was released earlier this month. In my opinion, she looks cute and can act well too.
Kunal Nayyar:
'The big bang theory' needs no introduction here, and he is amazing in that show as Rajesh Koothrapalli.
Dilshad Vadsaria:
A Pakistani of Portuguese and Indian descent. She is currently acting as Padma Lahari in 'Revenge'. Initially I disliked her but she grew on me slowly.
Naveen Andrews:
He was amazing as an Iraqi soldier in 'Lost', one of my favorite shows of all time. Recently I watched another Brit show called 'Sinbad' and I realized why I like him so much. I like Sawyer more but well, this topic is about desis 😛
Kal Penn:
He needs no introduction! Recently I have seen him in recurring role in 'How I met your mother.' I hope to see him in some other show as a main cast.
Aziz Ansari:
Recently I watched an episode of 'Parks and Recreation'. Aziz was hilarious and I would like watch all the episodes soon.
