Chapter 20:
Tanveer: What truth?
Asad: Really? You don't remember? Let me refresh your memory.
Asad walked up to the TV and took out a CD from his pocket. He put it in the DVD player and pressed play.
*On the TV screen*
(Setting: in Asads work cabin)
Tanveer: Where does he keep all his files?
Rona: Right on that shelf *points to the top shelf , left to his table*
Tanveer goes and grabs all the files with the last name starting with 'F'. Rona takes half the file and tanveer has the rest. They both run through the files.
Rona: I found it!
Tanveer: Great Pass it over!
Rona: No.
Tanveer, what do you mean no?
Rona: First answer my question and then I'll give it to you.
Tanveer : 'Kay. Whats your question? *Her voice has a tint of 'annoyed' in it*
Rona: Tell me why you are doing this. I mean, what has she done to you, and why are so into marrying Asad?
Tanveer: That girl is in the way of my goal. Ms. Zoya Farooqui. She had come into Asad's life, MY best friend, and taken him away from me. I have always been shown very low in society, and now Asad is my ticket to the top of the pyramid. In my womb, I have a CHILD. My ex boy friend's child. If anyone finds out that I'm pregnant and not married, then no one will marry me but leave yet at the bottom once again.
Rona: But don't you think Asad will know its not his kid?
Tanveer: If you know me, you know I have a plan.
Rona: And what's that?
Tanveer: Its simple. Go on a date with Asad, get him drunk, the next morning wake up beside him and tell him that he got too close at night. He will easily believe that it is his kid.
Rona: Wow, your a b*tch
Tanveer: I know! Now give me the file.
Rona passed her the file and Tanveer opened it. She took out the papers in her file and began to rip them one by one. She threw the peices in the garbage and looked at Rona.
Tanveer: Job done. Lets go.
They both exited the cabin.
*Back to the present reality*
Everyone was shocked. Dilshad was more hurt then anyone. She almost fixed a relationship for her son with a disgusting person.
Asad: Got your proof?
Tanveer was speechless.
Dilshad: Out.
Tanveer looked at Dilshad.
Dilshad: I said OUT!
Tanveer: But khala, give me a chance to explain.
Najma: There is nothing left to say.
Asad grabbed her arm and threw her outside along with her parents.
Asad: Go bring your devil soul somewhere else and stay away from here. Come back and I'll call the police.
He shut the door on their face.
He turned and looked at his mother. She was sitting on the sofa crying.
He went up to her and bent down on his knees. He cleaned her tears and held her hand to give some support.
Dilshad: I am so sorry Asad. I never knew that she was like that. Please forgive me. *she began to cry harder*
Asad: Ammi. Calm down. Don't cry. We all know it wasn't your fault. That god that Shukria sent me that video before it was too late.
*Ding dong*
The all tuned to the door.
Najma: I'll get it.
She walked up to the door and opened it.
Najma: Shukria! Come in.
Asad got up and walked up to Shukria.
Asad: Thank you so much for your help Shukria. You don't know how much you helped not just me, but my family.
Shukria: You don't need to thank me.
Asad: everything okay? You seemed to be tensed.
Shukria: Actually. Nothings ok.
Asad: Whats wrong?
Shukria: Asad, uh woh
Asad: What is it shukria?
Shukria: Zoya is in the hospital.
Asad was shocked. It felt as though everything had crashed on him once again. Right when he thought everything is okay, his world just crashed on him again.
Asad: What? Is she okay? What happened? How? WHAT?
Shukria: Her friend Asif called me. He said that she was hit by a truck. Shes been admitted to the hospital but is in very bad shape. I bought tickets as soon as he told me but I realised that I wont be able to go as my wedding is in just 4 days.
Asad: So what should we do? Shukria I can't just leave her their alone.
Shukria passed him over her ticket.
Shukria: Take it. The flights tonight. Go. And get your Zoya back.
Asad took the ticket. He had tears in his eyes.
Asad: thank you shukria.
She smiled *tears filled her eyes*
