Bollywood: Upheaval on Eid Release, Akshay Kumar and Shahrukh Khan Fighting For Top Honours In Absence Of Salman's Movie

Delhi: Bollywood has always donned the idea of film doing good business when released during the festival season, as it means more patrons to the cineplexes during holiday season. You would notice that most of big budget movies alwaystarget release of a movie in or around a festival season so that they can reap on the benefits of the festivity.

For past few years certain festival seasonreleases have been targeted by the starts, for example we had a Salman Khan Starrer releaseson Eid since 2009. During Diwali season we would have Shahrukh Khan Starrer released. The concept is great as it works wonder for the movies; they generate better revenue during festival season then on any weekend of the year.

This Eid, Salman khan has taken a back seat with no apparent release planned. While it will be interesting battle between Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, they have their respective movies released on 8, August or on this Eid. Shahrukh isstarring in Rohit Shetty directed Chennai Express while Akshay can be seen in Milan Lutharia'sOnce upon a Time in Mumbai Again. It remains to be seen if simultaneous release will hamper boxoffice performance for these movies. Both are high budget movies and sure would want to hit the magical 100-crore mark to be a runaway hit.

When quizzed about missing Eid release; Arbaz Khan, brother of Salman Khan, had to report that they are looking for other dates to release Salman starrer Mental. He quoted that fans wait for Salman's movie releases on Eid, but this year has been different as the shooting for Mental was not started till March. Hence, the completion of the movie was delayed, making it impractical for Eid release. He also quoted that he would not want to rush the film release for Eid release. He reported that there are other dates that they are looking forreleasing the movie.

So this year on Eid, you will not get another Salman Starrer but would have two other starts in Sharukh Khan and Akshay Kumar locking horns for box office success.
