I think it's because it's more about perception than real age.

Like Kajol is considered 40+ because she worked in the era with the Khans, but in reality she is younger than Aish and closer to Preity-Rani's age. Similarly, PC is considered "older" because she debuted before Imran. That article Shreya posted explains pretty well why BW is the way it is.

LOL I do too. 😆 Sonakshi is a newbie, but not only does she have a mature face...she also aged herself onscreen by working only with Salman, Ajay, and Akshay. ...well Akki toh phir bhi was okay since he can pass for 35, but the other two...😆 That's why I thought she looked older than Ranveer in Lootera trailer too. Her next film is with Imran, who has a baby face...so I dunno how that's gonna go either. 😆
