Internet...the fastest growing medium of communication which spreads information at the speed of light [hmm..well .. a computer expert may not be so comfortable with this example 😛... as bits and bytes r not a form of light😉] with low cost [I don't have to pay long phone bills on chatting with my friends in other countries😛].

But what happens when there is racism, child po*ngraphy, terroristic hostile material, etc etc... on the internet available to ANYONE!! To me, to you, or ... Your Children!!!

I am no monster that doesn't allow freedom of speech... but still .. there are many .. many many issues[which i mentioned above] that need to be censored! Everyone has the right to raise his voice... be it a good citizen..or a criminal.

Its not so easy to chop off everything offensive... How many guards we can set up at every site?😕

We know that television and videos are more impactful than print stuff... we have both at internet... so ... is internet censorship inevitable?

My question: Should there be an internet censorship? Is there a need for it?

Ur comments.😊

I think that internet censorship should be avaiable. But its also your responsibilty when to introduce what kids to the internet and atleast explain the danger of using it. I agree its not easy to chop off everythign offensive and won't be able to. The problem is once the child is on the internet. they can access to anything and everything especially. The most harming sites etc that look really dodgy should get blocked. The thing is we cannot protect our kids from everything on the internet so u should expect yr child to discover things etc.

Parents should place filters and keep the desk top in general family area where it cannot be surfed covertly -close to kitchen and family room for example and refuse to give kids internet or TV connections in thier rooms...till they are mature enough to know good from bad.

👏 I totally agree with you here.

Question is how do you define what should be censored at a global level. What is bad for one can be good for other purposes. The censorship should be exercised at the family level. There are tools available in the market to do that. It is time consuming but worth the exercise. 😊

It is different from Media because ownership can be so disputable.... I mean you can hold a specific media agency responsible for wrongdoing (newspaper, magazine, radio/TV station etc).... How do you do that on Internet?

Yes CKY Uncle 😛 😆 ! I know it is difficult and there are many authorities responsible for the exposure of such stuff at internet, but this doesn't give the excuse for not having a censorship at Govt. level becoz it is of immense social importance!

I have read somewhere that there is some identification system used in some countries of Asia(experiment), in which the provision of identification is necessary.. though i don't have minute details about it, still if this system works....it is helpful. Plus the blockage of specific sites (containing harmful content) is a good measure. I think it all needs monitoring ... 😊

I don't expect an eradication of all the harmful and disastrous content...but at least .. there would be certain restriction on it.
