There were two friends who decided to go buy a book.

The book was $30 so they decided to split the money in half.

They both payed $15 each and went home.

The shop owner later realized that the book was only $25

He gave his servant $5 to return to the purchasers.

While the servant was going to thier houses he went and bought a cup of coffee for $2.

Now he got the rest of the money, $3 and split it in two.

He gave $1.50 to both of the purchasers.

Now $15 - $1.50 = $13.50
$13.50 x 2 = $27

If we add the two dollars the servant used for his coffee it equals $29.

... what happened to the one dollar?

The following night two friends check into the same motel. Once again the clerk charges them $30, or $15 per person. After the clerk remembers the total rate is only $25 he sends the bellhop upstairs with five $1 bills to pay the two friends back. The bellhop knows he got away with larceny once so he tries it again. But this time he pockets $3 and returns $2 to the hotel guests ($1 per guest). So each of the two guests got $1 back from their original $15. Therefore each paid $14 which is a total payment of $28 for the room. Now the bellhop has $3, the guests paid $28, for a total of $31....THERE'S THE MISSING DOLLAR!!!!

here he gave each 1.50 so its $3 ...therefore

25(cost of the book)+ 2(cost of the coffee) + (1.50*2)..remaining money = 30

25+2+3= 30

y did u minus 1.50 from 15 coz they got 1.50 bak and the wasted money was $1 each

so its like $15 - 1= 14
$14 * 2 = $28
$28 + $2(cost of the coffee) = $30
