I loved your post Vaishali - the description and analysis sprinkled with your own feelings and emotional ties with your own father. đ
As I said in another thread, tonight's episode took the CLASS and QUALITY of Saraswatichandra to another level altogether! I saw it twice! At 7:30 PM on SP,at 9:30 PM on DD and would've seen it thrice again at 11 PM on SP if not for a power cut at our place at that time! LOL! That is how much I was influenced by the dialogues and acting in the episode today!
Phatte chak ditte yaar! âď¸
I will bookmark this episode too as I did some others for revisit whenever I feel like relishing it.
Now my opinion:
We need to have a ViGun AT or FC too as much as SaMud! đł
Such an eternal and PURE bond they share between them! Again ideal and stuff made of dreams. It is very rare to see such understanding and such open expression of emotion by a MAN of this age (older age) and such conservative, partriarchal background!
I have to commend SLB here that he's come a long way from his movies now. Fathers in his films like Khamoshi, Black, HDDCS etc. were attached to their families but shown to be really cryptic, cold and even rude to their families. But Vidyachatur is such an expressive man who has the guts to bare his soul to his wife and kids! *RESPECT*
And do I love SLB for turning over a new leaf when it comes to portraying dads in his creations! đ
I was numb in the VC-Gun scene in their room. The way he made it obvious that he was hurt as a male and as a karta dharta of the family and felt it like a personal failure that he could not make his family fully trust him. Why despite him being alive and being there, his wife and kids had to carry the burden of their sorrow alone since he is supposed to their shield, their umbrella, their roof, literally their armour as a man!
VC made his sense of guilt and hurt clear with a lot of heart and endearing honesty...
I loved it how the actor made his voice shaky and how his eyes became transluscent with tears as he said - he could stay without Gun but could not LIVE without her. My mother was crying when she saw that scene and for the FIRST time I saw my father reacting to a film/show! His eyes looked kind of moist and he totally silent and still while watching those scenes! đ
That's the POWER of the EXCEPTIONAL writing and the HEARTFELT performances by actors!
Gun and VC talked with a lot of wisdom and patience. I loved it how Gun admitted her mistakes and how she understood the hurt VC must've felt.
Haha! It was so sweet when she confronted him, he tried to act tough and she said, "Mujhe aapke chehre se pata chal gaya hai ki aapne mujhe maaf kar diya hai!" Adorable! And PURE moment! đ
It was lovely how Gun added her role as a mother and reminded VC of their kids too. How both of them could not even live together with their children who despite their own guilt and pains took the initiative to re-unite and reconcile them.
SC team showed beautifully how humans think as men and women and as parents/caregivers of the family. And the conflicts they face as individuals and as relatives.
It was touching to see VC pacify the restless guests and uneasy family members with his humour.
He did the ceremonies and also danced with Gun and family without letting anyone else sense that there had been some friction in the family. And he did everything with COMPLETE SINCERITY and not like he was pretending! It showed how at heart he is a total family man!
He reminded me of my own father too! Devoted to family - can get angry at us but cannot take even one breath without thinking of us! đ
His dialogue that when one cannot cry he has to wear a veneer of hardness was so awesome as an insight into a man's psyche! Superb writing on the SC team's part! đ
His conversation with Kumud was really touching and emotional too. Equally awesome was the small detail that it was Gun who called Kumud to the room and not VC himself - as a mother she acted as a bridge between a "struggling to express himself" father and a "guilty, reluctant" daughter! đ
VC saying to Kumud that he was hurt that she chose to bear her pain alone and considered her hiding the truth from him as a failure of his upbringing he gave her was TRULY INSIGHTFUL and EMOTIONAL.
Kumud breaking down like a kid and asking her father to get as much angry as he wanted to, scold her but at least talk to her and promising him that she would do anything to regain the trust back was a truly sentimental moment between a father and a daughter.
She had coldly told Saras that he need not interfere in her problem with her father and that she's handle it herself. But it was beautiful to see how silently Saras had melted VC's heart towards his family and Gun's words later had ignited the warmth in the father's heart.
Kumud had told Saras during his stay at Ilaben's house that har kaam akele nahi ho sakta. Today Saras proved to Kumud also - teaching her back the same lesson subtly that she had taught to him.
I hope Saras also observes VC-Gun and realises that not every relationship is as doomed as the one between his father and biological mother; there is some goodness and prospect of happiness in this world too.
I was applauding Saras when he thanked Guman for inviting everybody and emphasising to her with a subtle sarcasm how her action had actually helped VC & family instead of causing harm or insult which she had intended to cause! đ
Overall a truly wonderful and refreshing wedding anniversary episode in which the nest nurtured by the couple was saved and restored to normalcy by its own nestlings (and one caring outsider!). 10/10 to team SC today On ALL counts!
(P.S- It was nice ploy to show how Saras is able to persuade VC and not Kumud. Sometimes one is too angry at one's own relations that he closes himself to them. But an outsider even if one is angry with him is able to somehow make one listen since it is not that easy to remain angry at him - a certain sense of formality takes over and makes one at least lend an ear to him.
IT SHOWED how one NEEDS outsiders EQUALLY to maintain equilibrium, gather his own sanity and UNITE with his INNER circle that is his Family!)
This episode to has numerous layers!
