Prologue :
"Sir please have a look... Sir this one is really important."
"What is it Payal ??? Can't you see I am busy ?" came the reply.
"Sir I know you are busy and I don't want to bug you , but sir please , this case came today itself and it is really an important one."
"Ok ! Fine keep the file down and you can leave."
Payal kept the file on his table and left for Room no. 333 , to check the newly admitted.
He was busy and was also exhausted , but still when his eyes fell on the file kept on his table , he picked it up and started going through it . He was not at all interested in it , until something caught his eyes.
SLOW POISINING
And instantly he returned to the front page of the file and read the name
Name - Miss. Khushi Kumari Gupta
Age - 22
Sex - Female.
He looked at the name and age at shock and returning back to the previous opened page held it . He slowly mumbled to himself
"Slow poisoning... This is the reason Payal was insisting me to have a look..."
He closed the file and kept it back on his table and stared at his blank laptop screen for a while . Then closing his eyes he shifted his neck and kept his head on the back of his big leather chair. He took a deep breathe , calming his always active mind when he heard a knock on his chamber door and soon a ward boy entered and said
"Doctor Room No. 333 , ke patient ko phirse fit aaraha hai... Dr . Payal ne aapko bulane bola." [Dr. Payal asked me to call you.]
He nodded and instantly got up from the chair , grabbed his white apron , which was hung from his chair , took his stethoscope and left his cabin to reach Room No. 333 .
Khushi , Khushi Kumari Gupta a student of 3rd year of National Law School Of India , Bangalore . Khushi was a bubbly and talkative girl , but along with that she was really an intelligent one too . During her school days and even in the first two years of her college , she have maintained her consistency and have obtained the 1st position . She belonged to a mediocre family with big dreams.
From the time she was 10 , she had always imagined to become a lawyer and so after completing her 12th board exam and taking a bit preparation she had given the all India Law Examination and have cracked it , not only have cracked it well , but have gained the 2nd position in all India basis and got admitted in India's no. 1 Law school. Since she always wanted to study Law and had a passion for it , so she had always studied it with full concentration and have never got bored among those big numerous books.
The midterm examination of 3rd year was knocking at the door . Her best friend NK and she were sitting in the library going through their books when Nk all of a sudden asked
"Khushi tujhe exams ke liye tension nahi ho raha hai ???"
Khushi looked at him across the table and said
"Nahi ! Nahi ho raha hai tension..."
"Right tera toh syllabus complete ho gaya hoga hai na ?" [Right you might have completed your syllabus by now?]
Khushi smiling a naughty smile and biting her lips nodded in a positive and he instantly asked
"Par kaise ??? I mean itna saara syllabus itni jaldi..." [But how u completed such a huge syllabus ?]
She leaning a bit forward lowering her head whispered
"Tu kisi ko batayega toh nahi na ???" [You will not tell anybody na ?]
And Nk instantly nodded a NO and she in that slow voice said
"Woh actually 2nd year ke final terms khatam hote hi maine next din se 3rd year ke books padhna chalu kar diye the... so..." [Actually just after 2nd years final I have started reading 3rd year's books so...]
"Khushi !!!"
"Haan !"
"Tu kitni padaku hai..." [You are such a studious girl.]
"No Nk its not like that , its just , its just that I love studying Law and so it comes like that only."
"Haan mai samjh gaya meri maa" he said rolling his eyes and both started laughing and that's when they heard the librarian saying
"NO TALKING !!!! SI LEANCE" and both suppressing their laughters went back to their books.
Soon the examination started and it was before the last day of exam , Nk called her and said
"Khushi mujhe kal ke liye bahut tension ho raha hai , kuch important batana please..." [Khushi I am getting really tensed, tell some important points na...]
"Ok ! Ok! relax" and that way they had spent 30 minutes discussing about the probable important topics , she suggesting him what to read and what not.
Next day morning , Nk met her infront of her house where she used to live as PG and then they both went to their examination hall . As soon as the question papers were distributed , 15 minutes before the actual time , Khushi started using her 15 minutes reading time and started going through it and remembering the answers. As she completed reading the whole question paper a broad smile appeared on her face , she knew ever answer , each and every answer and it was becoming tough for her to decide which one to attend and which not , so she decided that she will write with a speed and will attend all questions.
The bell rang and with everybody she too started writing but after 15minutes or so , her speed started getting slowed down , her hands were not moving at a speed , she was wanting them to move. And after half an hour or so , her right hand stopped co-operating and it started getting senseless , she looked at her answer script and noticed that her beautiful cursive handwriting was turned into some twisted , rounded letters written by a girl of class II or something like that.
And after another 15 minutes , the pen fell down from her hand on the table and tears started forming . She tried to pick up her pen , but was not able , her hands had lost their sense and were now feeling numb , as if there was no existence of it . She looked around her and saw everybody writing their papers and she not been able to control her tears , submitted her papers and ran out of the class room . She didn't stop anywhere and directly went to her rented house and went to her room and flopped herself on the bed and started crying .
After 3 hours her cell started ringing and she wiping her tears , picked it up
"Hello !"
"Kya Khushi kahan hai tu ???" [Where are you Khushi ?]
"Ghar par..."
"Kya yaar pehle toh itna fast exam khatam kar liya , and then you didn't even wait for me and went back home." Complained Nk
"Sorry yaar..." she said trying to control her tears.
"Chal thik hai... raat ko party mein jayegi na... exam khatam hone ka celebration karne ke liye." [Its ok by the way you will come to the party at night toh ?]
"Nahi yaar mujhe mann nahi hai.. tu chala jana..." [No yaar I don't feel like , you go...]
"Kyu ??? Par hua kya hai ???"
"Kuch nahi mai... tujhse baad mein baat karti hoon..." [I will talk with you later] and with that she disconnected the phone and threw it at another side of the bed and started crying again.
After 10 minutes or so , she heard knocking on her room door , she got up and opened it to find Nk standing with La. She instantly wiped away her tears and let them in. La went to the other side of the room and sat down on her bed while Nk pulled a chair towards Khushi's bed and sat down there and asked
"Khushi aab bata kya baat hai ??? Tune itni jaldi exam kaise khatam kar liya ?" [Khushi now tell whats the matter.. how he finished your paper so fast?]
"Kyu ki maine paper mein kuch likha hi nahi hai..." [Coz I have not written anything in the paper.]
"Kya ?? Par Khushi kal raat humne job hi important discuss kiye the... woh sab kuch paper mein aaya toh tha..." [What ? But yesterday whatever important we discussed everything came in the paper.]
And with that she explained them what had happened with her in the examination hall and Lavanya being the medical student looked at her in shock.
"Khushi !! Khushi !! kaha khogayi.. khana toh kha le beta..." [Khushi where are you lost , eat your lunch beta.]
And Khushi jerked her head and coming out from her thoughts of her old days turning towards her amma said
"Aamaa mujhe bhook nahi hai..."
"Haan pata hai... phir bhi tu khayegi..." [Ya I know but still you will eat] and with that Garima started feeding her daughter.
