OSJ,
OK. He has a phobia or scar. In his mind he is saving her from the harm. But how long will he continue to evade? However strong he might be in bearing the pains, in very nature of this new pain- largely self inflicted, he renders himself less sound in cerebral evaluations. His weakness is not only hindering him, in present case, ironically, it is actually causing tremendous grief and harm to the very person whom he is trying to save!
About Kumud, he is placing 'cause' as the 'result'! That is- More Kumud is hurt, more he is convinced about the 'result' of his association with her. But in reality, very withdrawal of his association is causing her all troubles; social, personal and emotional. He ends up hurting her more with his 'well meant' but ill found actions.😕

@ myviewprem and omsshreejanu,
Mention of Father, brother, friend was more a light hearted banter against Cvs' imposing superstition. Still as a reference, not entirely invalid. At the time of Letter, despite schism or its absance in these relations, they were yet more attached to him than a new unknown person whom he has not even met...besides, the purport that time was different; laced with some anger and trite rejection than a compassionate 'release' that now he (script) is showing...but than, these are matter of individual perceptions I think.

So well said!! This guy is very very entangled!! U r absolutely right abt his logic - the more Kumud is suffering the more he is being convinced that he was right in rejecting her!!
Who will make this guy understand that it is HIS REJECTION that is causing her the pain. HIS ACCEPTANCE wud have made her the happiest!! But unfortunately...

did he ever say in serial he loves his dad and brother? Never
He only obey his dad for the promise he gave his dead mom. Otherwise right from first scene there are cold vibes between his dad and saras. May be because saras blames his dad for his mom death or because he married guman who is not a good step mom.
Regarding kumud he rejected her first instance without seeing because he does not trust institution of marriage. But after being with her for more than a month in ratnagiri he starts falling in love and then says that dialogue "whoever i love most leave me and go and get only pain".
I do not think saras love his dad very much he just is with him because his mom took a promise from him to be with his dad always. Regarding his brother not once he remembers or mentions danny so i am not sure he is close to danny.
Sunny yes he loves very much but loving friend and loving family is different. He has loved kumud but it will take him some time to remove fear in his heart and express it

Oh sorry for late replies, as I have been restricting peeps in earning hours! ( though many times I do!😆)
OSJ,
Adding to this, he seems to have no idea, how ruinous it is for a Girl's family in a small town in India. This is not his international urban city Dubai. An orthodox hamlet where lake is deemed polluted on account of low caste. Accidental death of cow is a blaspheme. Isn't it logical that Guniyal is worried about marriage prospects of her daughter who is seen by whole village as mingling so openly with a man not turning her husband? Now when Guniyal will slap her daughter and berate Saras for continue to mingle, (the forum may erupt in frenzied censure of Guniyal for slighting Saras!), Saras will further brood, 'See, my inauspicious connection!!!'...

Well said smrth! He is caught in a very intricate web of emotions.. His deep fear of losing people he has loved is stopping him accepting Kumud yet he can not disassociate himself from her neither her pain which is ironically given by him..

@ Smrth
Guniyal has every right to b worried n angry at Saras!! He is like a kid n don't we say - dil to baccha hain ji!! Saras is being unable to let go. In a way he is unknowingly playing with kumud's heart!! Wat was he thinking by saying to Kumud - I have no umeed that u will stop me when showing her the Dubai ticket or in the mandir - asking her the real reason she helped him or while returning her jewelry back?? I feel for him, he is completely confused n one can only say - poor Kumud!!
Guniyal is a mother, a very good mother n she knows how it gonna end for her daughter if this persists!!
Gumaan will b pouring her venom n Guniyal will slap her daughter for crossing her limits- that is staying so late outside with a man. I can understand this mother n I won't blame her at all. I am very interested to know wat dear Saras will do about it. Oh God I will b living if he starts his self inflicted mantra!! I so want to see a strong Saraswatichandra!! I don't want to see Dugba shaking him to realize wat he is doing !! For God sake he needs to take his responsibility !!
Going off topic Smrth again!! Tell me is it going as in the book? I guess not really right? Is it that SLB is re-adapting it? Because I far as I got it Kumud of the book was not like Kumud of our show right?? So can we expect that these two will end together not miserable n in a loveless marriage??
Btw u take ur time to reply. I'm on holidays so u see free hi free houn!! 😛

OSJ,
Are you inciting a spoiler?!😲 I am forbidden...ok...novel is in Four books (parts) . At the moment I am on second book as am reading irregularly. The second book is about Guniyal and her progress. But now novel is more fascinating for late late 19th- early 20th Gujarati milieu, spellbinding language ( bit challenging) and interesting weaving of the plot. For this read,Serial is now incidental.
Regarding your quarry, no, serial is not going exactly as the book. There are so many changes. And big one is Saras, not Kumud! In fact, perhaps she is most in tune with the original- comparatively. Though, she too is changed a lot, I mean in essence she is identified.
Two things are absolutely new; Guman-LN-Dukhba triangle. And Saras's Superstition! There was no such thing in original SC! Dukhbaa was such a minor and shallow charecter, she was hardly even mentioned. In fact, she was already dead when SC first visited Ratna nagari. They never met. SC was born and brought up in Mumbai. And LN was just a super rich merchant of Mumbai (I think textile baron). Although Gumaan did scheme a lot to malign her step son's engagement, ultimately she succeed because SC spent extravagantly on his new love ( a rare diamond ring, commissioned expensive painting of hers etc.) LN reproached him, not for money-.they were too wealthy- but because of Guman's misleading concoctions and other circumstances...the fall out was disastrous for Kumud. And SC regretted his impulsive step for life...as you see, in this line SC is much more blameable. I think introduction of DB-LN-Gumaan dispute and SC's superstition- mother's suicide are all pure innovations to reduce or lessen 'irresponsible blame' quotient away from the Hero's character ( none of these three in the book). I don't mind them here. For they do make this charecter more palatable. Otherwise, original is not that 'heroics' as we are sending him here. More normal and more error prone...
more some other time...😊

Thanks Smrth!! 😊
I think SLB will make SC in his own style n drama type he likes to give to the audience. Dugba is a very interesting character n I won't b surprised if she is the one who who will get Kumud n Saras together. I think thanks to her history may not b repeated(cross fingers!!) I mean a loveless marriage for our protagonists. N Gumaan succeeding twice in ruining ppl's lives no way!! SC n Kumud r there to make her plan kaput.
I believe there wud b loads of drama but Kumud married to a drunkard or to save family's honor n all no way!! That wud b so out if character for Kumud n VC ( I just like n respect this man).
