"Okay. Aap fresh ho jaiye. As I said, main kitchen mein hoon." Taani said, and left for the kitchen. Working for sometime in the kitchen would help her relax and give her time to ponder over what happened.

Taani went to the kitchen. She decided to make Paneer Kadhai (sorry, but its my favourite dish!). She started cutting up vegetables for it. As cut the vegetables, she thought about the day. "Aaj ka din start itne happy note pe hua tha. Dance Face Off ka day, sab kitne excited the. Aur humari team sab awards bhi le gayi. Par… usked baad jo kuch bhi hua woh bahot confusing tha… atleast mere liye. Rey ka unke Dad ko milne ke liye darna. Award dekhkar unke Dad ka itna agitate hona. It felt too weird."

She had cut up all the vegetables needed for her dish. She set the pan on the stove and started adding all the ingredients. She was so busy thinking about Rey and his Dad, that she was about to add chilli powder to the dish second time, when someone grabbed her wrist just in time and said, "Taani hume rulane ka plan hai kya?" She turned around and saw Rey smiling at her. So engrossed she was, that she hadn't realized when Rey came in the kitchen.

"Matlab?" She asked. "Matlab ye ki tum already do baar chilli powder daal chuki ho. Phir se daalo ki toh dish tikhi ho jayegi. Phir main meri best friend ne banaya khana maje lete hue nahi paunga." Rey said with a mischievous smile. But it didn't improve Taani's mood. She realized that Rey was still holding her hand, and gently released her hand from his grip. She said weakly, "Sorry… Woh main soch rahi thi."

Rey opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again when Taani's cell phone rang. Taani looked at the Caller ID. It was Sharon. Taani answered the call.

Taani: Are Sharon, teri Bhai se baat khatam ho gayi? Mujhe toh lag raha tha ki Bhai toh tumse baat karte karte puri raat jagne waale hai.

Taani couldn't see Sharon through the phone, of course, but she was sure that Sharon was blushing.

Sharon: Shut up, Taani!

Taani: Are wah! Maine Bhai se ye kaha tha tab woh bhi 'Shut up!' hi bole the. Khayalat milte julte hai dono ke!

Rey laughed on hearing this. Sharon heard him.

Sharon: Are, Taani, tumhare saath kaun hai?

Taani: It's Rey. Aaj raat woh humare ghar rukne waale hai.

Rey picked up his ears on hearing his name, sensing that he was the topic of discussion now.

Sharon said, concerned, "Kaisa hai Rey? Thik toh hai na? Jyada sad toh nahi hai na?"

"Ab tak toh normal lag rahe hai. Aur, kuch problem hua na, toh I'll fix him up!" Taani replied trying to make it less obvious that they were talking about Rey. She didn't want him to get upset about his friends discussing about his problem.

"Okay, Sharon. Mujhe abhi khana bhi banana hai. I'll call you later. Bye!" Taani cut the call.

Glancing around Taani's spotless kitchen, Rey asked casually, "Kiski baat kar rahe the? 'Abtak toh thi hai.' and all that?"

"Woh… Woh hum… Woh hum Bhai ke baare mein baat kar rahe the. Sharon keh rahi thi ki uska aur Bhai ka koi argument ho gaya hai. She just wanted to tell me." Taani replied. Then she added quickly, just to be safe, "Aur usne kaha ki argument ke baare mein main Bhai se kuch na kahu ya puchu."

"Okay." Rey said. "Waise tum bana kya rahi ho?" he asked, looking into the pan on the stove. Taani replied, "Paneer Kadhai."

Rey's face lit up. "Wow! Tumhe pasand hai ye dish?" Taani replied, "Haan thodi bahot pasand hai. But aaj Dance Face Off se ghar aate waqt aise laga ki aaj yehi dish banani chahiye."

Rey smiled widely and said, "Tera toh mujhe pata nahi par mujhe bahot pasand hai! Mujhe ek din mein breakfast, lunch aur dinner, tino ke liye Paneer Kadhai de do aur main phir bhi pura hatam kar dunga!"

Taani, too, smiled saying, "Achchi baat hai! Ap yaha aaye ho, aur aapki favourite dish thodi hi der mein ready hone waali hai!"

The door of Swayam's room opened. Taani turned and said, "Bhai aap aa gaye? Aap aur Rey living room mein jaake baitho. Khana ready ho jayegi tab bata dungi." Swayam said, "Rehne do na Taani. Hum yahi kitchen mein rukte hai. Tino milke baatein karte hain." "Okay." Taani said.

Soon, the dinner was ready. They went to the dining table and sat down to eat. Throughout the dinner, they kept talking about random things. Towards the end of the dinner, Rey asked Swayam, "Swayam, tu Sharon se baat kar raha tha na phone pe? Kya baatein kar rahe the dono?" "Kuch nahi. Bas idhar udhar ki baatein kar rahe the." Swayam replied, completely at his ease. Of course, he would be normal. Usse Taani ke excuse ke baare mein kuch pata nahi.

Rey asked him once again, "Bas idhar udhar ki baatein. Are you sure tum dono normally baatein kar rahe the? I mean, koi jhagada toh nahi hua na dono ka?" Taani looked at Rey wide-eyed. She thought, "He Krishnaji! Rey ko pata chal gaya ki hum Bhai ke baare mein nahi, unke baare mein baat kar rahe the toh! No! Aisa nahi hona chahiye!"

Rey's question confused Swayam. "Rey?" he asked, "Tu kya bol raha hai? Mujhe toh kuch nahi samajh aa raha." Taani said, defending herself rather than Swayam and shooting Rey a fierce look, "Kuch nahi Bhai. Rey aise hi bol rahe hai."

"Tum dono na bahot weird ho! Pata nahi bhagvan ne tum dono ko kyun amne samne la diya! Anyways, main haath do kar aata hoon." Swayam said, getting up. As soon as he was out of earshot, Taani turned to Rey and asked fiercely, "Aap ko kaha tha na, kuch mat bolna! Phir kya zaroorat thi Sharon aur unke call ko mention karne ki?"

Rey grinned and said, "Itna kyun hyper ho rahi ho? Main toh bas time pass kar raha tha!"

"Time pass? Aap ise time pass keh rahe hain?"

"Yes."

"Yes? Aapne dekha nahi Bhai kitne awkward ho gaye the?"

"Awkward? Kuch awkward nahi hua tha woh. Ulta confuse ho gaya tha."

"Woh Bhai kiske hai?" Taani asked in a stern voice.

"Tumhara." Rey answered.

"Toh unko main jyada janti hoon ya aap?" Taani snapped.

""Okay, okay! Relax." Rey now knew better than arguing with Taani.

Swayam entered. He teased them, "So, Taani Rey, saari 'aisi hi baatein' sort out ho gayi?"

"Very funny!" Rey and Taani snapped at him together.

Swayam took a step backwards, "Okay Relax! Waise, main toh sone ja raha hoon, tum dono bhi jaldi so jaana." Taani asked him in a surprised voice, "Bhai, abhi sirf 9 baje hai! Itne jaldi sone jaa rahe ho?" Rey smirked and teased, "Taani, kyun nahi? Tere Bhai ko Sharon ke sapne dekhne ki kuch jyada hi jaldi ho rahi hai."

"Abe Rey, tu toh tease mat kar!" Swayam said in a pleading voice. Rey replied, "Okay, okay." Swayam said, "Okay, to main so raha hoon. Good night!" and left for his bedroom.

"So Taani," Rey said, "Toh main bhi sone jaate hoon. Good Night." "Good night!" Taani said, giving him her sweetest but murderous goodnight smile.
