Rakshanda Khan spills the beans on her new show Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye, her penchant for doing cameos, hosting television shows and corporate events and her event management company Celebrity Locker. What's your new show all about and what are you playing in it? Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye is based on a big business family of six sons and a daughter and has a huge star cast. Vijaypath Raichand who is a strict disciplinarian heads the family. I am playing Tara who comes from a poor family. She falls in love with Yash (Sachin Tyagi) who hails from the business family. Since our marriage was not acceptable to Yash's father he leaves home and gets married to me. Ours is a small and loving family with one daughter. Since the family disintegrated because of ego problems between the father and sons, Tara convinces Yash to return to the family. The family reunites but new problems begin. This one seems to be a totally positive character after the negative role you played in Jassi? It is a positive character. Tara is bubbly and full of life. She loves her husband and daughter. She is like Kajol of K3G. My character in Jassi was not 'negative' but grey. She did have positive shades and was completely in love with Armaan. She had real emotions. Obviously she was hurt when someone snatched her childhood love from her. Is Tara a long-running role or just a cameo? It is a cameo that will last for about four months. I think I am more comfortable with cameos because the entire graph of the character gets condensed in a short span. To me it's a great experience to go through an entire gamut of emotions and feelings in a smaller role. You also played a cameo in Kasamh Se recently. Are you becoming a cameo specialist? When Ekta offers me a role I don't question her. She knows me well and she also knows what role suits me best. When she offered me the role in Kasamh Se I didn't ask her anything about the character or its length. I just went ahead and did it. As for becoming a cameo specialist, it's not that I don't want to play longer roles. But since I am doing Kyunki, it takes lot of my time. I am not in a position to commit to another show on a long-term basis. Besides I have other commitments too. Tanya of Kyunki is almost too positive. Do you think the character is static or is there a change in the offing? Tanya is a typical Indian wife, the kind every man wants. In that sense she makes an ideal wife. But then Tanya is the way she is because she knows Karan married her because he had no other choice. Why has anchoring taken a backseat? Offers have been coming in for proper anchoring jobs but nothing concrete has materialised as yet. But I am into hosting corporate shows and live events. How's you company Celebrity Locker doing? Not bad. We started a couple of months ago. We have done a show in Singapore and last week we launched a non-alcoholic energy drink in Mumbai which is getting a good response. Next month we are doing a show with Himesh Reshammiya in Kenya apart from a few corporate events. In any case I am not in a hurry to do one event after another. I want to do classy, big events, which will enhance the reputation of my company. |
