HEMA WELCOMES RAMU'S 'SHOLAY'

Bollywood's dream girl Hema Malini has played romantic heroine in over 100 Hindi films --- few other heroines like Rekha may boast of this feat. With her takes-your-eyes-prisoner beauty and tinkling laugh, Hema has millions of fans. She was truly the heartthrob throughout the 1970s and a good part of the 1980s. She is also a celebrated Bhartanatyam dancer and was recently in New Delhi for Sa Ma Pa Vitasta awards. The Smashits spoke to the dream girl about the remake of 'Sholay' by famous director Ram Gopal Verma.

What do you have to say about remake of 'Sholay'?

Well, what would I say, good that it's been remade. It was a good film, a Bollywood masterpiece.

How does it feel to receive the SA Ma Pa award?

It feels great. I am glad to be honored here today.

You have received so many awards till date, how is this special for you?

Every award is important for me and makes me feel good. Sa Ma Pa award is equally important as are other awards.

Do you think today's generation has the talent to carry the legacy of classical music and dance?

Yes, why not. You go to any institute you will find children learning classical dance. I feel happy that today's generation is keen on learning classical. Even in my institute I have so many kids who are eager and enthusiastic to learn.

anyways...I dun like Sholay being remade....
