The advantage for using Twitter..Is more efficacious then Facebook for sharing the information..in twitter the information Spreads faster then Facebook, you can share your opinion your information, your research, or any thing in your mind only with 140 letter. That means you will share only the important idea and avoid details that do not benefit ..So help you to gain time...
Twitter is easy and faster then Facebook..and do not make you lose your time.
Other benefit of Twitter is you can share information with others and read them information without being friends and without knowing the personal information.. because many persons like to use Facebook but do not like to accept friends requests..So twitter is more efficacious then Facebook for them...
In twitter just follow them and what they write..that is all...No personal things..and if you know famous persons in science or Invention or Scholars..you follow them to know them news and to be update..You can ask questions too.

The goal of twitter is not making friends like facebook is to Share your ideas and what is in your mind or share information or indicate some website with direct way and A wider spread more quickly.
