It does seem rather funny but its actually the brilliance of our culture and the importance it gives to Women. A. Laxmi nandan means Lakshmi's son
B. Vidya chatur - vidya means knowledge and chatur means clever - therefore the one who is knowlegable and clever. Knowledge is a feminine word in hindi.
C. Saraswati Chandra - in this context we already know that his mother was saraswati.. so just like lakshmi nandan, he is saraswati's son chandra.. his first name isn't saraswati.
Although it might seem odd, I think its rather cool that in a culture that is looked upon as male dominated, even men(especially in the olden times) were known in reference to females they are related to or female characteristics that they have. More examples are Umapati Mahadev (Uma's husband Mahadev - Shiv/shankar), Radhe Krishna (Radha's Krishna), Siyaa var Ramchandra (Sita's husband Ramchandra)
Great observation by the way! 😊
