Ayushmann Khurrana had a terrific start to his career last year with VICKY DONOR becoming a major success. A year after that film's release, he must still be counting all the awards that he got for that film. He must also be thinking about another thing: this Friday's release NAUTANKI SAALA.
Will NAUTANKI SAALA be able to repeat the success of VICKY DONOR?
Opening wise, the film will get a decent opening at multiplexes, especially due to the fact that the music of the film has been appreciated. The film's opening may be best at multiplexes in North India due to the Ayushmann factor (one of the best performing areas of India for VICKY DONOR was North India, and also the Northern flavor of the hit song "Saadi Galli" from this film). At single screens, the title of the film may attract some viewers in terms of opening, but generally, the opening at single screens will be low.
It will be interesting to see how the film does after the opening weekend. Content will be the deciding factor, and therefore it is important to note that director Rohan Sippy's previous films (KUCH NA KAHO, BLUFFMASTER, and DUM MAARO DUM) all met with an average/poor response at the box office. Low/reasonable budget of this film will help though.
