'Film makers underestimate us'
Tanisha Nerurakar (better known as Tasneem Sheikh) lashes out at film directors

Tanisha Nerurakar studied to become a software engineer before tellydom beckoned. "I used to do theatre in school and participated in many plays. Then someone thought I had beautiful hair and I got picked for a shampoo advertisement. I got noticed by a production house and the rest as they say, is history," laughs the chirpy young lady.
On screen, she plays the good and the bad. But it's the negative roles which have got her more news print space. "Negative characters do get noticed more but I think I have done quite well in both Sony's Kkusum and in Kyunki Saas.... on Star Plus. I love to play different characters with different shades," she says.
Ask her why TV stars never seem to make it big on the big screen (with a few exceptions like SRK), and Tanisha replies, "Film makers underestimate the potential of TV actors and often assume we won't be able to do much on the big screen. So we get side roles. But they don't realise that TV actors are more capable of handling work pressure and delivering a great performance in less time."
Life is looking up for this lady, both on the home and professional front. So what's cooking next? "I don't plan the future. God has written the screenplay and we have to act according to his story," she chuckles, before adding, "At present I am enjoying married life. I love to cook which is lucky, since the way to a man's heart is through his stomach anyway."
