Serial Qubool Hai on Zeetv is soaring high lately.One of the most adored characters on the show is the hot, arrogent, and stubborn Asad Ahmed Khan who is portrayed by none other then the television heartthrob Karan Singh Grover. We managed to have a little chat with Karan about the show, his plans, and his personal life.
So, how do you explain your journey in Qubool Hai so far?
- It has been great. In terms of work, I feel Asad is the most complicated character I've portrayed and it's a challenge everyday. I'm having fun.
Do you miss Dill Mill Gaye?
- Yes. Dill Mill Gaye is a show that I can never take out of my heart. It's where I've made the best of my friends, best of my memories, and found love as well(Laughs) Dill Mill Gaye made me and nothing can ever take its place. It will always hold a special place in my life.
Speaking of friends, who is your closest friend on the sets of Qubool Hai?
- In terms of Qubool Hai, I get along with everybody and we have a great team. But if I were to choose then definitely Rishab and Surbhi. Rishab is like my younger brother and I have great fun with him. Surbhi is mentally a child.(Laughs) There isn't many differences between Surbhi and Zoya. In fact, I would say Surbhi is crazier. I do shoot with her the most so I like to pull her leg a lot because she gets irritated and tells on me (Laughs)
What is the funniest prank you played on sets?
The funniest prank would definitely be our April Fool's prank on Surbhi. As I told you before, Surbhi is mentally a child so she falls for most of the pranks we play on her. So, it's fun playing pranks on Surbhi. We were shooting for a very emotional scene and I decided to change Surbhi's lines from "Kuch kahanion ka kismat mein hi adhoora rehna likha hota hai Mr.Khan" to " Mujhe bohot zor se bathroom jaana hai Mr. Khan." She said it twice before we told her it was an April Fool's joke. She turned all red.
Has anybody played any pranks on you?
- Actually, I haven't been well for the past couple of weeks because of the weather change so I sleep on sets when I get the time to. Apparently, Gul discussed how the fans liked me clean shaven so Miss.Surbhi Jyoti and her army decided to shave half of my stubble while I was asleep.
Tell us about your future plans in professional terms?
-Well, I really didn't want to come back on television as I wanted to try my luck in films. Unfortunately things didn't go to well so I had to make other plans.
Why did you take up Qubool Hai out of all other shows?
- Actually, Gul Khan, our producer and director , came to me with the role of Arnav Singh Raizada but things didn't work out at that time. I was also offered many other roles but I wanted something that I've never done before so I went with Asad. He is a character of substance and has a lot of depth in his characterization.
Who do you prefer more, Armaan or Asad?
- Armaan hands down. I related with Armaan a lot and it's a character very close to my heart. As far as Asad is concerned, I like him in terms of the challenges I face playing him. Acting wise Asad is great but on a personal level, its Armaan.
Are you looking into Bollywood?
- I'm not really preparing or auditioning for Bollywood as of such but if something comes my way, why not?
It is seen that many television actors leave their serials when they get movie offer. Most recently it has been Sushant Singh Rajput. Will you do the same?
- it depends on the role. If its a great role like what Sushant had then yes. I'm an actor and I look forward to grow in my career. If something bigger and better comes my way, I would definitely take it up. Who wouldn't ? As I told you before, I had no intentions to come back on television but circumstances and fans brought me back but of thing work out for the best, I think any sane person will go with the better option.
Now coming to your personal life, any future plans?
-Actually, Jenny and I are planning a family and children. But, since we are busy at the moment it will take a little time. So, let the right time come then we will see.
Your anniversary is around the corner. Any plans?
- Actually, Jenny and I are going out of Mumbai. I won't tell you where (Laughs) because it's our time. I have a few surprises planned for her. Let's see how it goes.
How has your married life been so far?
- It's been the most amazing year of my life. I love sharing my life with Jenny as we are very similar in person. Nothing has really changed after marriage. We are still the best of friends.
