While Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes did have a wedding ceremony at the Italian castle on Saturday night, their marriage was formalised at Los Angeles a while back

It's a little difficult for our celebs to do anything without creating at least a little controversy. So even as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes exchanged wedding vows in a glowing 15th-century castle in a lakeside Italian town, Cruise's publicist Arnold Robinson who confirmed that marriage let out that TomKat "officialised their marriage" in Los Angeles before coming to Italy.

Well so much for the wedding for the year!

Robinson also said in a statement that the Italian wedding was performed by a Scientology minister before more than 150 relatives and friends.

Cruise's best friend, David Miscavige, was best man, and the matron of honour was Holmes' sister, Nancy Blaylock.

The wedding ceremony may have only been 20-minutes long (a little too short by Indian standards!) but the couple made it up with a "never-ending kiss." Apparently the lip-lock continued for so long that guests had to shout "stop, stop!"

AN ARMANI WEDDING

Holmes wore an ivory silk Swarovski crystal embroidered, floor-length gown designed by Giorgio Armani and he said it was a perfect fit. The low-cut dress, decorated with a crinoline frill at the shoulders and a silk border around the hem, also had a train in ivory silk cadis adorned in Valenciennes lace.

The popular Hollywood designer said that Holmes looked "very sweet, and at the same time modern."

Holmes also wore an ivory tulle floor length veil and ivory silk shoes, and she carried a bouquet of flowers, including calla lilies, that was made by Armani.

Armani said in an interview after the ceremony that it was Cruise, a client and friend for years, who had asked him to design his bride's gown.

Cruise also dressed in Armani — wearing what the designer described as a navy blue single-breasted silk suit with a matching vest, an ivory silk shirt that was made of the same fabric as the bride's gown and a silk tie.

The couple's seven-month-old daughter Suri also was dressed in Armani, the designer said, describing a little white wool bloomer dress, decorated in tulle.

BECKHAM'S BLUES

David Beckham said he is undergoing the "worst time of his career" after pulling out of attending Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes wedding this weekend. The Real Madrid player was thought to be attending the wedding near Rome with wife Victoria, but he flew back to Spain yesterday after going to a pre-nuptial dinner.

PSYCHIC TROUBLE

The couple is supposedly doomed, according to a top psychic Kenny Kingston. Kingston, who says Marilyn Monroe is one of his spirit guides, said that though the couple had picked a lucky date for the wedding, the spirits do not approve of Tom Cruise or this marriage.
