Chapter 4

Riya watched him going out of the room, and she turned to look at Aryan with shocked eyes. She couldn't believe what she just saw. Had Arjun really pecked Aryan's forehead? Or had she been dreaming completely! She had never seen such a gentle look on Arjun's face. She looked one last time at Aryan, and went out to confront Arjun again.

She didn't know what to expect, so she went out and waited for Arjun to speak. He was talking on the phone, with god knows who, and he sounded very angry. She was afraid when she heard him shouting at the other person.

"Oh god, yeh hamesha angry hi kyun hein, ab ap hi mujhe bacha sakte hein," Riya thought.

Arjun was angry with his team, because due to some mistake they had lost the clue of a criminal. He finished his talk, cut the call and turned to look at Gia. She looked very scared of him, good she should be afraid, she was the only girl to have ever slapped him. He observed her and thought, that she was lucky that she might be his future- sister-in-law, otherwise she would have greatly paid for that slap. He was thinking what course to take now. When he had seen Aryan's feet, he had seen a mole on his toe and its form, which was something everyone in his family had, at that same place, even he had one. After this and the birth certificate he was no longer in doubt that Aryan was his nephew. But he didn't understand why Shree had ran away from his responsibilities. He looked around to see the state of this room, and was angry to notice that this Gia was having great trouble in meeting both ends. He was going to offer some money to Gia,when suddenly someone knocked at the door.

"Ab kaun hein," Riya said to herself, excused herself and went to open the door. It was Riya's landlord, and from where Arjun was standing, the landlord could see him.

"Look, Miss Riya, I had already told you that such things wont be tolerated here. First a kid, and now you are having man visits here. Either you gave me the rent, which is due, or you can look for somewhere else to stay," the landlord said while giving Arjun a cold glare.

Riya turned to look at Arjun when her landlord was insulting her, but Arjun's face was emotionless. She turned back to her landlord and asked him to give her one more week.

But her landlord was not looking satisfied with it, and said, "If only you young girls could work a bit, instead of entertaining young men at their place!"

Riya had never been insulted so much in her life, first Arjun and now her landlord. She just wished she could run away from here, and hid herself someplace. If only she didn't need a place to stay, she would have given that landlord a tight slap and a piece of her mind. But she was helpless, and couldn't say anything. However she was not prepared when she saw someone else giving that landlord a slap.

Arjun had been waiting patiently for Gia to finish talking with her landlord, and thus didn't pay much attention to their talks, until he heard Gia asking her landlord for a few more days of respite. He then heard the landlord said some insulting words to Gia. He didn't know why, but he hated that completely. He waited for Gia to respond, but Gia remained silent. So he couldn't stop himself and gave that landlord a tight slap.

The landlord was so shocked, and held onto his red cheek and said, "You'll pay for this very badly. You already owe me so much money, and now your lover has dared slapped me!" looking towards Riya.

Riya couldn't prevent herself from blushing even more and feeling also a burst of anger, but she couldn't beat her landlord, where will she go if he threw her out of here.

However Arjun didn't remained quiet, and grabbed the landlord by his collar and said, "How dare you talk with a girl like this? Don't you have any manners!"

The landlord tried to release himself and retorted back, "Don't push your luck too much. Already she'd delaying her rent, and now this! I can throw her within one minute!" He threatened Arjun.

Arjun looked with disgust at this landlord, released him and opened his wallet, and asked, 'How much?"

The landlord was surprised at hearing this, and meekly told him the sum. Arjun took out some money and gave the landlord and told him that he was taking them from this appartment. He then took Riya by her arms, pulled her inside and closed the door on a shocked landlord's face.

After a few minutes, Riya still couldn't believe what had happened. She knew she needed money, but she had felt so ashamed that Arjun saw her in such a state. She calmed her heartbeats, when suddenly she remembered that Arjun had defended her character.

She couldn't prevent herself from asking him, "Why did you beat him?"

Arjun was surprised at her question but he just replied the first thing that came to his mind, "Well he was insulting you! How dare he talk with you like that?"

Riya couldn't stop herself from retorting back, "But you had echoed the same thing on me just one week ago!" She wasn't disappointed when she saw Arjun turning slightly red with shame.

She stayed quiet for some time, when she suddenly remembered Arjun telling her landlord that they wont be staying here anymore.

"Yeh kya kar diya apne? How could you tell him that we don't need this place? Where will I and Aryan go now?" Riya suddenly shouted.

"Listen, this place is too shabby, and not good at all for Aryan, so you'll both be coming with me," Arjun said a bit irritated.

"Jee nahin, we wont be going anywhere with you," Riya said angrily.

"Either you come with me, or I'm taking Aryan away from this place alone without you! You should be thankful that he's only two months old, and you are his mother, otherwise I would have snatched him completely from you" Arjun said to a shocked Riya.

Riya first was shocked when she realized that Arjun thought she was Gia, and had been going to clear his doubts that she wasn't Gia, when she remembered that he'd take Aryan away from her if she hadnt been the mother. God she had gone for some help, but here everything was turning against her. How will she reply back to Gia when she comes back and asked for Aryan. She can never tell Arjun the truth now, because then he'd separated Aryan from her.

She was just too shocked to say anything, when she heard someone knocking at her door.

"Who can it be now?" Riya said to herself, afraid that the landlord was back to throw her out. So she stood like a statue, not having any courage to go and open the door. So Arjun had to go and open the door, and found himself looking at a very beautiful girl. That girl only spared Arjun one glance, and then ran inside shouting, "Di!" and gave Riya a big tight hug.

"Ankita tum," Riya said not knowing to be happy to have met her young sister after so many years, or scared because now maybe Arjun would know the truth. She hugged back her sister, all the while looking at Arjun.

Ankita heard some baby crying, went inside and then came out and stared shockingly at Riya and Arjun.

She went near Arjun and said, "Are you my jija-ji? But no one told me that you married!" she said while turning towards Riya.
