| Smiling through it all: Tannaz Lal and Bakhtyaar Iraani | Tanaaz Lal and Bakhtyaar Irani were in for a rude shock on Wednesday (which was also Bakhtyaar's birthday) when the couple scored only 19 points for their performance in Nach Baliye's Regional Special episode. The episode will be telecast on Monday. The couple, who has not put forward a wrong foot from day one and scored a full 30 points in four episodes, danced in South Indian style. However, the performance didn't cut it with the judges. Judges nakhush Says an insider, "The couple was stunned and were left with their mouths open, especially when Saroj Khan (who always sings their praises) told them that they lacked co-ordination. Kunal told them that their performance was a khichdi of things. Tanaaz and Bakhtyaar, however, felt that they deserved at least 25." Tanaaz confirms their measly score of 19, but puts up a brave front. "Aisa hota hai. Everybody has a bad day and it was one of those things. We feel we executed it to the best of our ability, but we respect the judges' decision." We shall overcome Did Bakhtyaar interfere in the choreography since he is a choreographer himself? "No. We just followed our choreographer, Mini. We did exactly what she said. In fact, she is a South Indian girl and since we were dancing in South style, there was no scope or reason for Bakhtyaar to give his inputs," clarifies the actress. Were the judges biased? Is the cha nnel going to filter the less popular faces and promote their own protgs? "I don't think so. Popularity and performance are two different things. Hiten and Gauri often don't dance well, yet their popularity has never lessened. This show has given us a lot in terms of popularity. We are getting a high number of votes. Just one bad score will not decide our fate in the competition. The public knows who is consistently good and who is not. We are hurt but we will bounce back," concludes an optimistic Tanaaz. |
