Nice post.Hoped someone would post something about the Moms in the serial, they have strong influence on both the leads.
IMO, Radha is quite misunderstood, as a weak and selfish Mom. She never slapped her son, she remarried etc. If Radha had gone around slapping RK in his childhood,as apparently Pad might have done with Madhu, he wouldn't have reacted to Madhu's slaps on such a grand scale.
IMO, the Kunderas had a different life style, where Mom& child painted together and the Dad brought Ganapthy, unlike, Padmini who was exposed to lot of violence,thanks to Baloo.
Is Radha a selfish woman? I don't think so.She risked her relationship with RK when she slapped him and earlier she took up Madhui's cause after the party and she did what was in her power to do.It's only Radha's interference that prompted RK to make amends earlier and he is almost apologized recently.
She knows fully well, that her son has wronged Madhu but she also believes that underneath all his mean layers, RK is a good person, who will make a good husband.She also knows, how much Madhu loves/ed RK. Why shouldn't she try to bring both of them together?
If she were selfish Mom with only Rk's interest, she would have stopped Sikki from marrying Deepali, who was RK's love at that time.IMO, she knew it. She treats Sikki as her own, i don't think, she is happy that he married Dips.
I say, more power to Radha's efforts!
