Arjun cut her short glaring at her…"haan Rathod…main chala jaatha hoom…waise bhi isske saat chalne se case mein kuch zyaadha farq nahi padhne waala"

[He smirked at her while she glared back and that insult didn't go well with her]

But he had marked it in his mind to get answers from her…..He had conveniently forgotten his warnings and insults or perhaps he hadn't voiced it out in his perfect senses and so, now he felt his ego bruised when she ignored him and his presence…..

He wanted a reply from her as to why she was avoiding him…..He didn't know why it was important but still he wanted to know…

It was late night and ETF had called it a day…..

Arjun was in his cabin as always….He always was the last to leave the office and the first to come in……it was his means to spend the barest minimum time at his other shelter, Ravi lodge…..yes it was a mere shelter to him…..A home had become a distant blurred reality now…..

The ETF office being his other rescue shelter during the day…..yes it really was a rescue shelter with its sheer presence and the busy case investigation schedules helped him keep aside his hurting memories…..

And the time between the midnight and early dawn were spent gazing at the skies from the terrace or the window of his room at the lodge in the hope of getting a glimpse of his Roshni who never returned after his intimate encounter with Riya, the other night……

He had pleaded apologies a lot of times to her but no….he knew Roshni was hurt beyond all that…..She was stubborn…she would never come back to him now……She would never take another girl in his life…..

He sat lost in his thoughts!

Unfortunate for Riya, that day's case report was to be submitted to him and she had no choice but give him that before she could leave office……

Shree had some important personal work that day and he had left office already…

Chotu was assigned some work of tracking down a drug dealer….So he wasn't there too…..Rathod had assigned the work to her and left for home! So there she was left all alone with him of course to add to her despair!

She had been cursing the entire team to have left her alone in this problem!….The last thing she ever wanted was to face her akdu sadu boss and that too without her protective fielders around

[yes, she had started calling Shree and Chotu as her PFs, meaning protective fielders….off late, they were her support system and always pulled her out of the troubles in which she landed herself like the other day when she had accidently printed out Mr Akdu's life history..She swore she had done that unknowingly and her PFs did their best to save her from his wrath….

haan woh alag baat hai ke dhaant toh khaafi mili akdu se….usske nazaron se kuch chupaana mushkil hi nahi naa mumkin hai…..par phir bhi, Shree aur Chotu ne help karne ki poore khoshish ki thi! But her ill luck that he caught her red handed and the rest is history!]

He had warned her to stay out of his life and his glares and fire like words had left her in tears…..though she tried to apologize, he never once relented or even heard her out! …..He had made her cry more than once and she hated him for that!

But today, she had to face him alone once more…..And she absolutely had no choice….

Work was work and she couldn't run away from that…So she completed the report quickly and slowly walked to his cabin…

She voiced out slowly, "may I come in Sir?"

Her low yet stern voice grabbed his attention……He knew that she would come with the report…

Rathod had left him with a task to review the report before morning! So it wouldn't be wrong to assume that he was indeed waiting for her….

He snapped out and responded…..

"yeah….come in.."

She came in like a bali ka bhakra waiting for its head to get chopped off……She knew however perfect the report was, he would have his reasons to yell at her and insult her work…..

So she was well prepared with her answers!

He glanced at her once before taking the report in his hands……

She looked expressionless as he took it……He ignore her totally…well she didn't care too…..

But as she turned around to leave, he spoke up "kahaan jaa rahi ho? I am not done yet!"

Riya stamped the ground in an attempt to control her urge to reply back……though she did that slowly and silently, he wasn't blind not to see what she did……but he chose to be silent….

She turned around and politely enquired "aur kuch karna baaki hai Sir?"

But even in her polite words, her sarcasm was spilling out….

He chose to ignore her sarcasm and sternly replied back "beito…..mujhe yeh report review karna hai…..aur tumse corrections bhi karwaani hai! Rathod needs this report ready by tomorrow morning"

Riya clenched her teeth in anger and cursed under her breath "Report abhi khola bhi nahi aur usske pehle hi corrections ki baat……yeh akdu kabhi nahi bathlega.."

Arjun could see her lips muttering something to herself "tumne kuch kahaa?"

Riya: [a bit confused that he caught her muttering]nahi…..[when he raised his eyebrows, she corrected herself] haan…maine kahaa ke aap report padh lijiye aur kuch corrections ho toh mujhe bulaa lijiye….main apne desk pe hi hoom……

Before she could leave, he spoke up sarcastically "kyun? Mere saamne beitne se darr lagtha hai?"

Riya's fuse blew up….she shot back instantly "darr warr kuch nahi hai mujhe…..I just don't want to sit with you Sir….samjhe aap?"

Arjun: [sitting up from his slanting position to face her now directly and looking at her intently] tum yahi isi cabin mein mere saamne beitogi….. chup chaap beito….

He looked back into the file and when he sensed that she hadn't taken the chair yet, he looks at her and speaks up "itni respect ki zaroorat nahi hai…..aaraam se beit jaao…[pointing at the report]….this is going to take time! Kab tak aise hi khade rahogi?"

Riya was staring at him now…..his sarcastic remarks weren't going down well with her…she vented out in anger "patha hai aapki problem kya hai? Aap sabko apne ungili pe nachaana chahthe hai….agar koyi nahi maana toh aapko ghussa aa jaatha hai…."

Arjun snapped her short and replied back casually "ek wahi nahi….aise bohat saare baatein hai jisske wajeh se mujhe ghussa aatha hai…aur itna ghussa ke main saamne waale ko goliyon se udhaa bhi saktha hoom…..[looks up at her]samjhi ya samjhaavum?

Riya was stunned at his reply and immediately sank into the chair….

He looked at her response and commented "that's better!"
