Dhukka start...

Today's episode was not bad per say - in fact was a pretty decent/good episode - but after reading the titles for 1-2 threads on the forum, I was under the assumption that maybe the story had moved on quite a bit in this new episode.. And you know what they about high expectations and their crash-n-burn track record.. 😆 Nonetheless, here are my thoughts all the same.

First thing that I have to say - courtesy of my injured expectation, which now refuse to move on (Desho-rubbing-off-on-me much?) - MOVE THE STORY ALONG!!! I get that Desho is upset about Nirvaal not making it in Canada, I get they have tension, I get that Sohum likes Bani but will much rather eat a karela than say it to her, I get that Bani is hell bent on being blind about EVERYTHING else except for her mother's dream of an NRI dulha and the reconciliation of the family and I get that Rano was deserted by her husband who she waits for to this day.

I. GET. IT.

MOVE ON!! 😳

I don't want them to show everything in the next episode but START toh karo! Show me some progress in the Dulha front, some progress on the Sohum front, some progress on the Rano front (even if this last one they seem to be in NO hurry to reveal). But show me something more.. Something!! *frustrated sigh*

I can understand that this is a new show so it will take a bit of time to set up and build upon its foundation - but I am hoping that with in the next episode or two they are finally through with setting up the foundation! Two weeks are MORE THAN ENOUGH (hopefully) for a show to have a defined foundation so I am seriously hoping that by Friday they are ready to show SOME PROGRESS!!

Now that that's out of the way.. 😆

The scene with Desho and family running about cleaning/preparing for the London-return-mama jee was HILARIOUS! That is EXACTLY what goes on at my house the minute we know that we have guests coming over - even if we know two weeks in advance.. 😆 The day of their arrival EVERYONE gets yelled at by my mom for absolutely no reason and you're expected to read her mind and have things done before she's finished listing them to you. 😆😆 And the expensive "tea sets" are pulled out while I stand there questioning what the point of all this is - only to receive The Look (the raised-eyebrows-stern-smile-I'll-hit-you-even-if-you're-in-your-twenties look) from my mom! 😆😆

Another scene I liked was the one between Bani and her father.. For starters the scenery was GORGEOUS.. And I am kind of impressed at the father (don't know the actor's name since we all know how good I am with names.. *shakes head*) actually riding that bicycle with Bani on it.. I mean seriously, props to him! 😲😆 But apart from all that, I liked insight we got into Bani's relationship with her father. And from what I've seen, he comes off as a patient man (if the fact that he has been patient with Desho's temperament for the past decade or more hasn't been evidence enough of that) and has a very approachable vibe about him.. He talks to his kids, is probably their guide and has a lot of wisdom to impart (assuming Bani ever allows herself to listen to what he has to say) and I just liked that while he stays quiet in front of Desho's angry rants about getting Bani married to some NRI it is not because he agrees with it or has resigned to it but because he lets her vent in whatever way works for her. And that's why the minute Bani suggests that she'll fix everything by marrying the NRI, he's quick to tell her that this is NOT her RESPONSIBILITY and that she is absolute NOT expected or allowed to ignore her desires for her mother's. I liked that..even if he doesn't say all this to Desho yet. Maybe eventually when things go sideways for Bani, he'll be much more vocal about protecting his kids actively in front of Desho's unreasonable demands.

The train scene with Rano - *sigh* I can't even.. It was just so uncomfortable.. And long. I get that she's waiting for her husband.. I don't need to see her put herself in uncomfortable situations just so the creatives can show how desperately she's waiting for him.. When she lunged at that dulha thinking it's her husband, I cringed.. That was not needed - and that honestly makes me think that she IS crazy.. If not entirely, then definitely a little bit disturbed or imbalanced.. Because aisey toh koi bhi nahi karta.. You can wait for someone, be sad when they don't come and I'd even have taken her MOMENTARILY thinking it's her husband and then catching herself and feeling a fresh pang about it. But the fact that she returned to fight through the crowd after being thrown out once is just something I can't write off.. 😕 I guess she is a little out of her senses due to her 20 year ordeal.

And about Sohum coming to her rescue (LMAO for the unintentional trip-catch.. 😆😆), it really didn't look like he is related to her. I am not saying that he isn't - he may actually be.. But from what I saw today, I didn't feel like he was someone close to her but rather someone who had taken upon himself to stand up for her and keep an eye on her just to make sure she's okay. It was almost like he just KNEW her through some aspect of his life and he felt her plight and just looked out for her. Did small things for her like take her home after a bad day or stand up for her in front of a crowd. Like he felt bad for all she was going through and therefore had taken upon himself to be nice to her. And that also explains why he is so adamant that Bani not suffer a similar fate at the hands of another NRI and so is working towards getting that visa first instead of hastily asking for her hand in marriage and messing it up due to not having the proper "credentials" per Desho. Of course, this could all be moot if they explain that he is actually related to her tomorrow but from what I've seen today, I didn't get that vibe.. 😕

In the precap Bani asks Sohum about Rano, so I'm hoping they really use this as an opportunity to shed some more light on the Rano situation or move a bit forward with the Sohum-Bani interaction. SOMETHING must progress. *ghoom phir k returning back to the start wala muh* 😳

Special mention: Bani is really intrigued by Rano it seems. Even at the langar when Rano ran away, Bani had chased after her and now too.. I don't know if they are trying to show this as a "look, they have a subconscious pull towards each other due to their about parallel lives" or if there is some other reason for Bani's intrigue for Rano that they haven't revealed yet (like maybe she's seen Rano around and is curious about her).. Or maybe this is just Bani being the good person that she is and being pulled into a situation where someone seems to need help and trying to help them.. I am leaning more towards the last possibility simply because it will probably fit easiest in the scenario but personally the second one (about her having seen Rano around and being curious) would be a TINY bit more interesting to watch. 😆

Okay, with that said, I head home and I HOPE we see some movement tomorrow!! *fingers crossed Bani style* 😳

I liked the scene of Bani with her dad on the bicycle too...sweet bit...the rest somehow didn't make as much of an impact cuz I want to see the story moving along.

As much as I want the story to progress... I feel like they're doing good so far. I don't want them rushing into it. I like how they continue to build on the same concept/ideas with every episode. We get to see a different aspect of it, learn some new little thing every time.

But i agree with you on the Rano scene at the train station. I actually fast forwarded most of it. It was a little too disturbing to watch her throw herself on that guy thinking it was her husband. I also don't understand her going to the train station every day dressed up as a bride.. She says she's not crazy and they tried to back that up with the langar scene but her actions tell us otherwise. What she does is not normal...=/

As for Sohum.. i think they should really proceed with the whole, getting a visa thing and whatnot. If I know anything about immigration.. you don't get a visa to country abroad where you haven't ever been before.. that quick. XD Hopefully, they'll make that seem realistic.. and he won't just magically have a visa by the next two episodes or something. XD

And answering your post from the CC, I can't believe I forgot to mention the London return maami jee.. 😆😆😆 "Theeze esmeelllyy peepul!" 🤣🤣 Also, what is up with all NRI uncles/dads wearing SCARFS on their necks? Everyone who is supposed to be "sophisticated" in a desi show ends up wearing a neck scarf.. 😆😆

The Rano scene was just too long, like you said.. I mean I would have honestly just preferred if she had come to the railway station and just sat in a corner and then they could have introduced the fact that Sohum knows her by having him come there and have her leave with him. Bani could have just as easily witnessed that conversation and that could have led to the same "woh kaun theen" discussion that they will have tomorrow. Zaroori tha ye tamasha karna? I really just didn't see the NEED for her to be lunging at some random dulha yaar.. Acha khasa she was shown as normal aur ab it seems like she clearly isn't.. 😕

P.S. I didn't even notice Bani not saying "jee" to Sohum.. 😲 Now that I think of it, she never "jees" him.. Did she say "thank you jee" today or just thank you? 🤔 In any case this is interesting because they are definitely not close yet to do so out of a shared comfort level.. But maybe the fact that he's such a known person around her house k she feels like she knows him through association, even if he actually treats her like she has cooties (for all she knows).. 🤔😆

Yaar building toh thiek hai but I really didn't feel like they had anything for us to learn today. Apart from the fact that the mami is supposed to be the annoying kind and that Sohum knows Rano, NOTHING else really happened in the show. 😕 And the bit about Sohum knowing Rano was already introduced during the first look toh honestly the only new little thing we saw was about the mami.. Come on yaar, how is that not a drag.. 😆😆😆 Even if they don't reveal any new secret in each episode, they should at least move the story along. And all the explorations of the different characters and relationship dynamics can be done in the process. We don't need to separately define each dynamic before we move the story along.. Saath saath bhi toh ho sakta hai na..? *sigh* Pata nahi yaar.. Maybe it's just the fact that I was expecting it to move a bit today that when it didn't I'm just a little let down. Because kaal tak even I was pretty content with the pace of the show.. 😆😆

Exactly!! Acha khasa they had shown her normal and they even had her monologue in the second episode to show that she wasn't crazy.. And then they had her go ahead and attack the poor dulha on the station.. *shakes head* 😆😆

I am going to believe that in today's episode when he leaves in a hurry from Bani's house he's actually going to get his visa paperwork submitted. Even though they haven't spelled that out, that's what I'm going with. Until they tell me otherwise.. 😆

Him leaving in a rush to get his application sumbitted could be true. But what could've been better was if they had shown that he had sumbitted his application long ago and was waiting for if... And just built on that. I'm not digesting that he decides to get a visa NOW when its been known by the people of the village since long that Bani's parents want to marry her off to an NRI.

And there was something else i wanted to say.. *sobs* but I forgot </3

OH OH! Is Sohum from the same village as Bani? Cause if so.. The writers messed up.. They're Sikh Punjabis right.? Bani can't marry a guy from the same village XD He's like her brother XD
