Two days had passed and Khushi was already accustomed to Aman and Arnav. Arnav had called her that evening and asked her about the time she would finish her work. She had told him without any hesitation. When she walked out of the restaurant after her schedule, she searched for them. They were nowhere to be found. It was just nine and she decided to talk to her apartment.

Her phone rang as she came out of the compound.

"Maa...!" an enthusiastic voice greeted her.

"Vaishu, how are you?"

"Main theek hoon, maa. Aap yahaan kab aayengey?" [I am fine, maa. When will you come here?]

"You will come to Delhi within some days."

"Maa, Prem mamu is waiting."

"Mamu ko phone dho." [Give the phone to mamu.]

Prem took the phone from her and said, "Hi Khush!"

"Hi bhaiya!"

"Where are you? Work over?"

"Haan, bhaiya. Ghar jaa rahi hoon." [Yes, bhaiya. I am going home.]

"Tumari woh dho dhost aaj nahi aaye?" [Your two friends didn't come today?]

She looked around and said, "Patha nahi, bhaiya. They are not here today."

"Get into a taxi and go home. If I come to know that you walked home, mujhse bura kuch nahi hoga." [If I come to know that you walked home, there will be nothing worse than me.]

She laughed at his threats and said, "Okay, bhaiya. I'll take a taxi home."

"Take care, Khush."

"Bye, bhaiya."

Just as she disconnected the call, Arnav's car stopped in front of her and he got down from the car.

"Sorry. Sorry. Aaj kuch dher ho gayi." [Sorry. Sorry. I am a bit late today.]

"It is fine." She looked at his car and asked, "Aman didn't come?"

"He will come in a while with Shreya. Remember? His girlfriend gynaec?"

She nodded.

"You thought I wouldn't come, didn't you?"

She bit her lower lip and nodded.

"No problem."

"You could have told me if you were busy. I would have gone home in a taxi."

"Taxi?" he asked with one of his eyebrows raised which told her that he didn't trust her.

"Surely a taxi today. Bhaiya ne abhi abhi phone karke mujhe warn kiya tha taxi mein chalne ke liye." [Surely a taxi today. Bhaiya just call me and warned me to take a taxi.]

He smiled and said, "I like your brother already."

Aman called him and told him that he would be there within five minutes. Arnav sat on the bonnet of his car and motioned her to join him. She shook her head and stood in front of him.

The wind was a little cold and she wrapped her dupatta around her. When Arnav offered her coat, she declined.

She messaged Prem that she would be going home with Arnav and she got a 'Much better. Take care, Khush' as a reply.

A minute or two later, another car pulled up near Arnav's vehicle. Aman and another girl, which Khushi thought to be Shreya, got down from the car. Aman went straight to Khushi without talking to Arnav.

He hugged Khushi and said, "Missed you, darling."

The endearment 'darling' shocked her. Her eyes widened and she gave Arnav a questioning glance. Arnav, who was not aware of what was happening, shrugged his shoulders and stared at his friend.

"Aman, what are you doing?"

"Khushi, relax. Just go with the flow," he whispered in her ear. He moved away from the hug and said, "Today was the longest day in my life. I couldn't call you even once."

Shreya fumed. Arnav noticed her reaction and guessed what Aman was up to. She slammed the door shut and walked away.

Aman heard the loud bang and turned around. When he found her walking away, he ran behind her and spoke something to her.

"What just happened?" a bewildered Khushi asked Arnav.

"I think Aman is trying to get Shreya confess her feelings and..."

"And I got stuck in the middle."

He laughed and said, "Exactly."

They looked at the other two. Aman was trying to apologize to Shreya and she was angry.

Arnav called Shreya and asked her to join him.

He put his arm around Khushi's shoulder and said, "Yeh Khushi hai. Meri pyaari si girlfriend." [This is Khushi. My lovely girlfriend.]

Aman and Khushi were shocked. Aman was shocked as his friend has spoken out the truth aloud. Khushi was shocked and confused as she didn't know what the two friends had planned with her.

Shreya's anger visibly cooled down.

"Aman was trying to make you confess," Arnav explained with his hand still around Khushi's shoulder.

Khushi was a bit uncomfortable but couldn't do anything.

Shreya extended her hand towards Khushi and said, "I am Shreya. Nice to meet you, Khushi."

"Arnav has told me about you," she said truthfully.

Her eyes darted between Aman and Khushi.

"The hug meant nothing?" Shreya asked her.

She shook her head. "Nothing at all. To tell you the truth, I was pretty shocked."

Shreya turned to Aman and said, "Mr. Aman Mehra, good night."

She hailed a taxi and went. Aman tried to stop her but she didn't listen.

"Do you mind explaining what just happened?" Khushi asked the two.

"I am sorry, Khushi," Aman apologized.

"She is playing had to get," Arnav told her.

Aman forgot about Shreya for a few seconds and asked, "So, do you also play hard to get, Khushi?"

"No, I don't play at all," she replied spontaneously.

"Why not?"

Arnav waited for her answer.

"Because I am not interested. There is no space for somebody else in my little world. I am happy with the people around me and I don't want another person."

The two men realized that she was telling them the truth. Arnav understood that he had to try very hard to get her.

Aman took a deep breath and said, "I have to go. I have to do something with her."

"Do something?" Khushi asked him.

"Hmmm... Have to plan something to bring down her anger."

"It is just enough to speak with her."

"What does that mean?"

"Have you ever told her you love her?"

"No. It is evident, right? Why else should I be doing everything I do for her?"

"Men!" she said and rolled her eyes. "Sometimes, you need to give your actions some words. That is all we need."

He thought over what she said and nodded. He told them that he would meet them the next day and left.

"It is just the two of us today," Arnav told her.

"Is Aman the only one who is stupid? Or are you like him too?"

"Like what?"

"The thought that you can do anything and everything except saying the most important words aloud."

"I don't know," he said with a sad look. "When I was about to say that, I realized that the girl was interested in my money." He managed a smile and said, "I don't have much experience in these things."

She realized that she had questioned him about a touchy subject.

It started to drizzle and she said, "Arnav, get in the car. It is starting to rain."

When he didn't respond, she pulled him to his car. He got in and opened the other door for her to sit. Within half a minute, the drizzle became a heavy down pour.

Khushi traced path of the rain drops which fell on the side window.

Arnav noticed her actions and got down from the car. He felt like getting wet.

"Why did you get down?"

"I thought you would like it."

She nodded.

He asked, "Baarish pasand hai?" [You like rain?]

"Bahut," she replied. [Very much.]

"Watching or getting wet?"

"Getting wet and making others wet, too," she replied with a naughty smile.

"Making others wet?"

"When I was young, my mother used to tell me not to get wet in the rain as I used to catch cold pretty soon. I wouldn't listen. I would sneak out of the house and stand under the rain with my hands stretched."

She stretched her hands and enjoyed the rain while a cute smile played across her lips.

"And then she used the find out that I am not inside the house. I would see her searching for me and call her. She would come running after me with a towel. But I would not let her catch me. I would run all over the place and she would be completely wet. She would finally give up and join me in playing in the rain. After the rain is over, my dad would make paper ships for me and all three of us would play in the puddle." She looked at him and said, "Rain has always been our together time."

Arnav was lost in her. He hated the way a few strands of her wet hair stuck to her cheek. He stepped closer and raised his hand to her face. He pushed her hair away from her cheek and was about to place his hand there.

A passing by car honked and it brought the both of them to the present. He let his hand fall on his side and she turned away from him. He cursed himself for having no control over his emotions. She had told him that she was not interested and he had done something which screamed that he was interested.

Khushi, on the other hand, didn't understand what happened. It had never happened before. She had seen him raising his hand and had noticed the expression in his eyes. Her brain had asked her to step away from him. Somehow, her legs didn't follow the brain's commands. She closed her eyes and swallowed hard.

"Shall we go?" Arnav asked her.

She nodded and sat in his car.

He took her to her apartment and like always, he stayed with her until she went inside the apartment and closed the door.

When he turned to leave, the door opened again and she said, "Good night, Arnav. Thanks for the lift."

"Good night to you, too."
