Today's show was all about hatred and rejection of Saras.
Kumud had told yesterday to Saras to share his pain with his mother or anyone else. Though Saras was angry on Kumud he took her advice and went straight to the one person he felt was his own Dukh Baaa. He adressed her so beautifully as Mai(mother) and starts telling her his problem that he cannot forget his mother the way she died in front of his eyes and how he wants to have peace. He thought that Dukh Baa will understand his pain as she was the one who saved him as a child from drowning and took care of him.
But instead of consoling him and helping him face his demons what did the person whom he adressed as mother do? She told him that he is no longer Saraswati's son but Guman's. Poor Saras who loves his mom so much that he prefixed his name to his own to give her recognition and respect was too shocked by this backlash. And calling him Guman's son a mother who was forced on him by his father is an even bigger slap on Saras face.
And i think Saras mother committed sucide because of her husband's affair with Guman. So saying that he is a woman's son because of whom his own mom committed sucide in front of his eyes must have shaken his belief on humanity. And why because Dukh Ba was supposed to be married off to Sarsa dad and he refused proposal and married Guman?
Isn't Dukhba doing the same thing that Kumud is doing humiliating Saras for his dad's fault on both ocassion. Saras dad decided to marry Guman and reject Dukhbaa what is Saras fault in it? Why this hatred towards him and his dad after 25-30 years when she has already married and had children? Again Saras dad without asking Saras decide his wedding to kumud may be because he wants relation with Vidya chatur to improve as compensation for his rejection of dukhbaa 25 years back. What is Saras fault in that?
And Saras had considered Dukh Baa like a mother and gone to her to tell his pain. Someone who loves his dead mom so much called Dukh Baa mai. Isn't that enough to show that he is Saraswati's son. Instead DukhBaa abused him spiting venom that she had for his father and Guman that was truly bad.
Dhuk Baa words shook Saras so much that he wanted to punish himself so much so that his pain in his heart reduces. Usually when a person has too much pain to distract himself he does something that makes him forget that pain. So Saras became a cow a perfect metaphor for his character and pulled the cart through the field trying to plough it.
The scene where Saras pulls the bullock cart in field has many meanings
1) Saras represents the cow. In world cow is considered innocent and kamadhenu that is it only gives never takes. Cow gives its child's milk to others that is ultimate sacrifice. Saras is like the cow he only gives to all people even what he loves most(in this serial he gives up Kumud for his parents happiness) never takes(expects) or recieves from them.
2) Second metaphor is the field. His father and step mom have sown so many thorns for him in life. He is trying to plough(remove) them and cultivate the land(plant flowers). Here land means Dukhbaa and Kumud's mind(all those who hate him for being Guman's and his father's son and for being rich etc)
3) Carrying the plough on his back means he is carrying the sins of his parents on his shoulder and getting punished for them. That only means all life he will atone and punish himself for sins of his loved ones be it father, mother(step mother) or lover(Kumud)
4) Saras sees the broken kite that also is a symbol that he will disconnect from his lover(Kumud) and be torn to shreds and fly around aimlessly before settling on an old dried tree without leaves.
5) When Dhukbaa withdraws her legs as he asks for her guidance and love it shows all life Saras elders(parents) will never show him any love, care or guidance. He was alone and will remain alone all life(yes he married Kusum in novel but never got the love of his life).
There are many more metaphors in the serial but i will stick to this episode only. I did not comment on Kumud's behaviour because it was totally out of context(just to show hero-heroine fight) and not much significant. Kumud is anyway shown as childish who jumps to conclusions that Saras is always angry on her and shouts at him. So their fights at insignificant and only to fill time in story nothing more.
