Chapter 1: Jurm
The prisoner stood straight, facing the world and his accusers squarely. His poise remained unaffected amidst the constant murmurs and photoflashes.
At the first glance, he looked arrogant and snobbish and that mostly, was the first impression he chose to give people. Only a few knew that behind that facade of
extreme aloofness he cultivated, he was an immensely warm and loyal person. And self assured. Which at times came across as haughtiness.
As he looked around, he saw his family clustered together sitting in the front. All of them had varying measures of anxiety and anguish on their faces.
He gave a small smile, knowing that his family was here as one to support him, irrespective of what they believed behind closed doors. His gaze travelled a little further,
oft scorning the eager faces of the scribes who'd want to convert this trial into headlines. He saw his friends, his near and dear ones and met all their eyes unflichingly.
And then his eyes travelled to a remote corner of the courtroom and he averted them.
The owner of the pair of eyes which had caused the above mentioned action continued to stare at his profile with open animosity and only looked away when the bailiff
announced that the court proceedings were about to start.
"Mr. Shivdutt Kapoor, you stand here accused for the death of Mr. Shashank Agarwal. Do you want to say anything in your defence?"
