Yeah you are right, she needs to show growth which she hasn't exactly so far. In between, I think she just became too focused on her first love aka fashion & clothes (really she should have been a model!) while towards films she had more of a "chalta hai" attitude..I don't know if she's found her focus again & cares now & we will see some improvement, but she seems slightly happier about her films from her interviews & tweets.
Her line-up does look better than Thank You, Players kind of stuff no doubt but even then it doesn't seem like any of it will require her to ACT much...Raanjhanaa gives me Delhi 6 deja vu (maybe that's a good thing Sonam-wise😆), the other few films she's doing seem on the lines of Aisha...which worked cuz she was playing HERSELF😆...so maybe yes that's her niche...playing a confused spoilt, good-intentioned misguided pampered Daddy's little girl...no one can play that as GENUINELY as Sonam Kapoor it seems😆 Raanjhanaa reminds me of Delhi 6 too, which for Sonam is good (acting wise hopefully) because I think it suits her better. 😆 Baaki film I can't speak for...as for doing roles that require acting, baby steps Anu, baby steps. 😆 We can't just put her straight in a EV or Kahaani. Pehle let her dialogue delivery improve a little bit, then maybe we'll get to actual ACTING & not playing characters so close to home..😆 I dunno much about her role in that YRF film, but the film sounds interesting enough...seems like its in Do Dooni Chaar space.
I saw that article about her wanting to act in movies based on desi chick-lit novels? LOL yeah that's her niche then😆 Oh does she? The interview I was talking about didn't mention chick-lits or maybe it did, too long ago now...maybe she should do a desi adaptation of The Confessions of a Shopaholic. 😆
I do miss her good photoshoots though...she used to do much better ones when she first started out...aajkal her photoshoots are also not that interesting...not as edgy and quirky as the previous ones she managed to pull off...that actually she IS good at...she should keep that going. Mhmm, I remember the photoshoot where she was channeling Waheeda Rehman in Pyaasa. I think I fell in love. It was STUNNING. Then there have been many others too.. Well yeah, like I said, she should have been a model.
