I believe him when he says that he just appears like that because of the HD focus and doesn't smoke or drink. It is true. Some people do have a stronger hue, it's a sign of health.
But he commented that it was interesting that a man's appearance is getting so much attention this time around when usually it is always about the women. Does this mean he has read my post on his appearance as Saras and the focus on male beauty? Well, if you are reading this Gautam, take it as a compliment because it goes with the story and the focus on your character. Sanjay is big on looks and he would not have picked you if he thought he weren't interesting looking as well as talented. You have a symmetrical face. And it's high time a man was analyzed for his appearance, rather than a woman. Women can be visual creatures too.
In case people are wondering which post I am talking about, here it is again:

Keep up the good work Mr. Rode!

Here's the article:
Gautam Rode who essays the title role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's show on Star Plus Saraswatichandra seems to be miffed with his female fans!! The reason is that he is tired of answering the same question thrown at him by every female fan of his, whether he is using lipstick on the show. According to his fans, this look of his with pink lips makes him look girlish.
A frustrated Gautam explained saying, "I am going crazy and feel like screaming from the roof-top that there is no lipstick used. I cannot believe it as even my mother asked me the same question the other day. My answer to my mom was that 'you know I have natural red lips'. I guess the color looks more bright as I do not smoke or drink."
Gautam who settled down into his normal calm self after a while said, "We can look at these comments from a different perspective too. I think this is the first time a male actor is being watched closely for his make-up as well. Normally only female actors would be given such an exhaustive critical gaze regarding their looks."
Coming to Saraswatichandra's opening numbers, the lead actor said "It is good considering the fact that the previous show at the same time slot fetched only 1.1. We have had a growth. It is too early to comment on the project's real potential as ideally any show should be given at least six to eight weeks to settle down. The start phase of any daily is taxing and we are breaking our backs at the moment to ensure that our product is good. I am glad to note that the initial reaction has been positive."
Gautam, guess your fans will cool down, now that you have answered their query.
