Bollywood Film Release Plans. Either Doom or Boom.

In today's time new trend has arrived regarding the release dates of new bollywood films at the box office. Here specially we are concerned with the release of big budgeted to big star films. It is either there is abig clash of films in the same week or there is scarce of film releasing.

2013 saw release of big films in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Race 2 and Special 26. Himmatwala will release in a less than 30 days time. In between there are few significant releases at the box office, but those can't be termed as big star films or big budgeted films.

But before 2013, that is in Nov-Dec 2012 we saw a big rush of mega films in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Son of Sardaar, Talaash, Khiladi 786 and Dabangg 2 withing a span of 40 days. So, from these we can conclude that either there is a big rush of releasing films within a short span of time or there is none. From January 2013 till 29th March 2013 there is only around 3-4 big budgeted films lined up.

Why this is so? There is a perception in the trade that film should get a Holiday or Festive season release so that it can earn big moolah. But, what is the use of festive release if it can't get a solo release with few open weeks. With notably 7-8 significant superstars in Bollywood and around 13-15 films releasing within them at most, isn't it better that all scatter the release date so that each one of those big stars get a solo running of 2-3 weeks each. In our opinion since, moviegoers always throng to theaters whenever there is a buzz for a film, it is better to have a solo release of 2-3 weeks than to have festive date release and have to fight it out with other releases.

Screen size of theaters have increase manifold in recent times with 3000+ screens is easily available for big releases. Even if those big releases gets normal day release with such a huge screen release it can easily get a significant Opening Day, Opening Weekend and Opening Week at the box office with just an average occupancy. If that is possible why is so much hue and cry for Eid, Diwali, Christmas, Independence Day release.

Hope this trend is just a passing storm and soon there will be big releases also in normal week like few years earlier used to happen. No only this will benefit film makers to earn good sum of money with good content, but also moviegoers don't have to wait for long for watching their favorite star on big screen. Till that happens, it is now either 'Doom or Boom' as far as Bollywood Big Budgeted films release dates are concerned.
