Hi guys,
I've never posted before, but have always read your lovely insights.
I've been debating the whole weekend about whether I should post or not and in the end I've decided to add my review of the episode to the discussion. I hope I'm not too far off track, any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks x
The whole episode left me feeling sad and bereft. My heart cries for these two, it was so painful to watch these past few days especially in light of the confessions unfolding today.
I really loved this episode not because of the hug, but because in their drunk states our lovebirds were able to be brutally honest with each other probably for the first time especially where RK was concerned.
The episode started off with RK professing that she should know more about what he wants. This line in itself is very telling in that in his inebriated state he is able to admit that Madhubala knows him better than he even knows himself. Wow. Under other circumstances RK, the man always in control, would never have admitted this. It's like he wants to hand himself to her, let her make his decisions for him, let her judge what's best for him.
He apologises, he wants her back though alas she won't come back. Not even if he holds his ears and apologises. For he has lost her trust and trust being such a fragile thing, will be extremely hard to repair.
I am so glad that Trishna had this chat with Madhu earlier on. At the time it was slightly annoying but now I understand that it was specifically to ensure that Madhu had it clear in her head. Trishna has definitely performed her duties as the elder sister and for that she goes up in my esteem.
Madhubala's vehement profession; 'I'm never coming back,' led to the most poignant, in my opinion, part of the episode. RK's expression upon realising that he may have just lost her forever, that she will never come back quite literally broke my heart.
'What can I do?'
This seemingly simple question has so much weight. Exactly what CAN he do to regain her trust?
It got me thinking, what is it that he could do to rebuild her shattered trust. My first thoughts, in the time it took for her to answer his question, was leave everything. Do exactly what you asked of her not too long ago. RK, you need to leave your home, family, money, fame and go with Madhu wherever she takes you. This would be perfect.
However we forget that Madhu would NEVER ask him to do this. No matter how easy it was for RK to request this from her, she would never stoop so low as to alienate him from his family or work, essentially his support system. For she is a much better human being than RK and probably even me for that matter. So what now? More on that later.
Back to the episode, Rishbala engaged in one of the most beautiful hugs. From here on in, the episode took on a bittersweet tinge for me for even though they were together, we know that it is only temporary.
'Promise me you will only listen to your heart'
'I promise'
She knows his heart is in the right place. She knows that when he over thinks things he messes up. She knows his heart will lead him in the right direction. She now knows thanks to his earlier confession, that his heart belongs to her. She also knows that it is probably too late for them but even so she wants to leave a lasting legacy with him, one that will steer him right long after she's gone.
The episode ends with Madhu waking up and witnessing reality. She is in RK's bedroom. She tries to get up, she can't. Her fingers are intertwined with RK's and they are currently in his grasp. In sobriety, it all comes rushing back; the way he dragged her, the phone booth, he carried her here. These do point to the realisation that maybe RK some home forced her there (?) but I'm desperately hoping this is not the case. She MUST remember, she NEEDS to remember.
This scene though would have had more effect for me if she had pulled her hand from RK in disgust, thus waking RK up, and literally ran out from there while RK called out 'Madhu...' in an attempt to stop her, before he too is hit with sobriety and the reality that she isn't coming back. Ever.
The only thing he has left is her scarf, which should comfort him in his lowest points, if he is willing to face the truth in his conscious state of mind, that he loves her.
As for the precap, I feel Bittuji is in for it soon!
So what can RK do?
We need to remember that when he broke Madhu's heart in a most spectacular fashion, the 'UNwedding', she changed. As she so poetically put it in her conversation with Trishna; 'Me, who you called glycerine, could no longer form tears.' Literally. This bomb, we could say, that blasted her life to smithereens, was so huge that her whole being transformed. Her identity as RK's wife, nay something more much much more' spiritual - his soulmate, was lost. SHE was lost.
From that day she has been attempting to rebuild herself, piece by piece and in doing so, she has discarded her 'weaknesses'. Her tears; GONE, her fear of the dark; GONE, her magnanimity, her ability to think the best of everyone (even bloody Dipshit) and most importantly her ability to forgive; GONE GONE ALL GONE.
She's not a wildcat anymore, she's transformed into a Lioness. One who is fiercely protective of her still fragile heart. She is not the same Madhubala. Something RK is coming to realise from the night of the studio part 2, and continues to realise even in his inebriated state.
When he comes to realise that it's all his doing will he, COULD he be able to forgive himself? I doubt it. I digress, however...
Intrinsically, Madhubala is broken; she is still in the process of consolidation. She's trying to mend, though her efforts are in vain; there's a constant sadness surrounding her. If shes not too careful, everything that makes her her will be lost.
Only RK can make her whole, bring love back into her life again. But without trust, there is no love.
And we are back to the original question; what can he do?
As it stands, nothing. There is absolutely nothing he can do or say that will allow her to trust him again.
However, for her to change her stance Something needs to happen.
Something major.
Something that will be a bigger bomb than the UNwedding.
Something so big that it's blast will eclipse that of the unspeakable UNwedding.
Something that in its aftermath will make Madhu realise RK is true, he does love her.
Something that will allow RK to regain the trust he lost.
And this is where I feel the writers will introduce Sultan, the great big gangster as the villain in Rishbala's lives. He will in effect be the device that brings these two together finally.
'I'll fall'
'I won't let you fall'
Let's hope RK sticks to his promise and becomes Madhu's saviour both in the immediate danger of Sultan and in the danger Madhu poses to herself.
