Chapter One

Kaizad had no hopes of his...eh...classmates ever coming. To say that he was surprised to hear that everyone were coming was an understatement. This was probably their last chance to know the truth. So he was kind of expecting it but just couldn't believe in it.

Shruti entered the hospital with her stomach in a nervous knot and her heart filled with guilt. She had lost her friends because of her insecurities and didn't stop there. She just had to go on and be one of the reasons for her friends splitting up too. And she would forever be guilty for that!

"Sudo!" Kaizad turned at Shruti's voice.

"Hey Shruti!" he embraced her in an awkward hug as Jeet approached them hesitantly with a small smile.

"Jeet!" even he was muffled by Kaizad as Dimpy came to them with a cheery welcome.

As everything went smooth, Shruti got irritated as soon as she heard the annoying voice of none other than Tanya Israni.

"Hello guys! This is like a forced reunion huh!" She was as always, her haughty self.

As everyone turned away, Shruti gritted out a "Hey Tanya!" which was answered with a similar "Hey Shruti!"

The first bout of guilt was felt when their former coach Shah approached them with a somber look.

He was glad that atleast four people turned up.

"What actually happened to the Dean, Sir?" Shruti was the first to put up the question as everyone stood numb.

"After the prize distribution of your batch, he was completely broken..." Shah started slowly and with those very words, Kaizad felt like someone plunged a cold knife in his heart. It was his fault. All his fault!

"He immediately quit the job and settled all by himself, never wanting to bother anyone. You guys were his favorite batch... Did any of you know that?" Coach paused to look at all their bent heads, "He was content with the success stories of Rohan and Abhimanyu! He felt that he was the reason for the break of their friendship... He kept himself lonely because of the guilt and... lost his strength as days went by! This was his last wish. To meet you guys! And I am glad you could turn up... For once he might be at peace!" He finished as he wiped off his one lone tear.

"C..can we see him Sir?" Kaizad asked unsurely as their coach gave a small nod and took them to the glass partition in the ICU.

Seeing their, forever cheerful Dean in such a state shook them to the core.

At that instant, each of them felt regret for everything they had done and everything that happened to them.

They had been so immature as it was just their senior year, thus breaking bonds and relationships!

And now, how much ever they wanted to, they cannot go back to those glorious days. But they could rectify their mistakes now and mend the broken bonds, hopefully!

They settled down in the waiting area, expecting the famous four to come.

"I doubt it yaar... I mean... the way they broke up, I don't think they would ever want to see each other!" Jeet was the first to break the silence.

"Well... I want Rohan to turn up!" Tanya replied saucily twisting a lock of her hair between her fingers.

"Ro the rockstar..." Shruti grumbled under her breath.

"It was not his fault that you both didn't hit off well Shruti... He's my best friend and I want him to come!" Jeet snapped at her.

Shruti gave a sarcastic laugh, "You... Rohan's best friend! Were you asleep on your feet during the entire term Jeet?"

Kaizad joined in, "Right Jeet... Abhi is Rohan's best friend!"

"Was!" replied Jeet.

"Until, Shanaya messed up everything between them!" Tanya piped in.

"It was not Shanaya's fault!" Shruti defended.

"And how would you know that?" Tanya was not giving in.

"She was my best friend..."

"Really Shruti! Only you could call your relationship with Shanaya as friendship... We all know that she had only one best friend, Ivy, who's life Shanaya didn't think twice about, before ruining!" smirked Tanya.

"Ivy..." uttered Jeet dreamily.

"Ishanvi Raizada! Little sister of Arnav Singh Raizada, Prince of India's fashion industry!" Shruti told pointedly at Jeet.

"Maybe Shanaya was jealous of her own friend..." Tanya said in a matter of fact tone.

"Oh please! Shanaya being jealous of Ivy is just your stupid brain's thinking!" Shruti brushed it off.

"Right! Think about it... Ivy was actually Rohan's best friend. That's how Shanaya came to know of Rohan. I should have been Rohan's GF!" Tanya flipped her hand at Shruti.

"All you can do is just be a sitting duck and imagine about it Tanya. It would have never happened..." Jeet said in a low voice as he remembered something from his past.

"RO!" a 7 year old Isha shouted at Rohan, who was running away after throwing the water balloon at an innocent girl.

She huffed at his stupidity and walked towards the girl, who had fallen down from the blow. She pulled the girl up on her feet by offering her a hand.

"Sorry about that! My friend can be such an idiot at times..." she muttered softly as she saw the tear-filled eyes of the girl.

The girl nodded slightly looking up at her.

Isha gave her a sunny smile, "I am Ishanvi... What's your name?"

"My...my name is Shanaya!" she replied meekly. Isha looked at her thoughtfully and suddenly had an idea and thrust her hand forward.

"Can we be friends? I have only had Ro as my friend and you just saw how annoying he could be... So please say yes nah!!!" Isha liked her already and wanted someone else other than just Rohan to be friends with.

"Even I've never had much friends... So... Yes!" Shanaya happily shook Isha's extended hand.

Isha grasped her hand and started dragging her, "Come... I'll introduce you to my family... they would be happy to meet you!" as Shanaya followed her unsurely.

"Arnie, Di! Look... I made a new friend!" she shoved Shanaya infront of her smiling family.

"Whoa! A girl... You got bored of your Romeo already!" Arnav teased her as Mr.Nanda laughed at it.

"Not any Girl... her name's Shanaya!" said Isha ignoring her brother as Anjali kneeled down to Shanaya.

"Wow Shanaya! Beautiful name...Which school are you going to sweetheart?" Anjali asked her.

"I and my Mom have just moved in here, Mam. I don't know which school I would be going to!" Shanaya answered shyly.

"Mam? Do I look that old to you... You can call me Di!" Anjali smiled at her while Isha started dragging her away once again.

"Isha... Come back! I haven't spoken with your New friend yet!" she ignored her brother's calls.

"Now where Isha... Stop dragging me around nah!" Shanaya pouted at her.

"Quick! Tell me where your parents are..." Isha asked her looking around hurriedly.

"What? My parents... For what?" Shanaya was flabbergasted at this girl's unusual request.

"To ask them to let you join my school dumbhead! Then you won't feel alone in your new school nah... Plus I would have you as my friend there too... What say? Now take me to your parents!" Isha almost ordered her.

Shanaya liked the idea. But was not sure what her parents would think. She took Isha half-heartedly to them when they were busy talking to some people.

"Oh look! This is our daughter Shanaya." Her mom pulled her away from Isha and showed her daughter like a trophy to the gathered people.

Shanaya smiled at them and looked up at her mother, "Mom! This is my new friend... Isha. She wants to ask you something." She said softly.

"You already made friends. Hmmm... hello dear!" her mom turned to Isha with a not-so-friendly smile.

"Hello Mam! My name is Isha and Shanaya told me you just moved in here. So I thought of asking you to let her join in the same school as me!" Isha put on her best smile as Mrs.Singhania nodded at her without paying much attention.

"Mom... Isha asked yo--" Shanaya was cut off as one of the men suddenly spoke up.

"Ishanvi! What are you doing here?" the man asked for which Mrs.Singhania replied.

"You know this child, Mr.Jha?"

"Ofcourse I do Mrs.Singhania. She's my Saali saheba!" he smiled at them as Mrs.Singhania turned to her with a new glint in her eyes.

"So You're the youngest Raizada! It's a pleasure meeting you darling. And I am glad you are friends with Shanaya already." Her mom smiled too sweetly at her. Sickly sweet!

"So , can Shanaya come to my school!" Isha asked her hopefully.

"Oh yes! We already got her admitted in St.Teresa's junior!" Mrs.Singhania patted her cheek and bent down to give her quick kiss at which Isha wrinkled her nose.

"Thank you Mam!" Isha pulled away from her and ran with Shanaya on her tail as her mom was gushing behind.

"I am so glad that Shanaya is already making friends with such good kids!" Mrs.Singhania beamed at the scurrying girls.

Later, they were sitting near the fountain talking, talking about anything to everything.

Shanaya saw the same boy, who threw the water balloon at her, lurking behind her new friend. But before she could warn her, he jumped out and tugged Isha's ponytail in a hard yank.

"ROHAN! YOU'RE SOOO DEAD!" Isha screamed at him trying to pull her hair out of his fists while he kept on jumping out of her reach with her hair in his death grip.

Shanaya watched them with amusement as they frog jumped, struggling and Rohan kept laughing. Finally they fell down on the grass and Isha got up to her feet giving Rohan a hard glare.

"Why did you do that Rohan Nanda?"

Rohan knew he pissed her off when she used his full name. Good! That was what he wanted. He sat up on the grass and brushed the dust off his shirt.

"It seems like you got a new friend Ivy, for you kept ignoring me all this time! I had to punish you nah?" he smirked at her as the new girl slowly stepped behind his friend in obvious discomfort.

Isha flared up at his rudeness and pushed Shanaya forward.

"Never step back when you're not at wrong!" She whispered furiously as Shanaya gave her a shaky nod.

"You're such a meanie bean Ro! You were the one who threw the balloon at her, remember? Apologize to Shanaya now!" Isha firmly told him.

"Shanaya... that's your name uh? Fine! If you found someone else, then I too did Ivy. Meet my new friend, Jeet!" Rohan pointed to the boy standing beside the fountain nervously.

"Oh! How sweet Ro! Your new partner in crime! Atleast treat him well, else he might want to leave you too just like me." Isha threw the sarcastic comment and started walking away with Shanaya when Rohan ran infront of her, blocking her path.

"You're not leaving me are you? You're forgetting your promise!" he sounded desperate.

"I am not keeping up my promise, if you're gonna be a spoilt brat all your life!" Isha had hit the target.

"Apologize to Shanaya for what you did to her ,then we can all be friends." Bull's eye!

Rohan stiffly turned to Shanaya, "I am sorry!" He didn't want to lose his best friend over some petty little fight or another girl.

"Apologize like you always do Ro!" Isha was frustrated with his behavior.

Rohan slowly walked to Shanaya and gave a quick peck on her cheek which left Shanaya's mouth wide open in shock.

Isha gave him a satisfied nod and walked towards little Jeet.

"Hello Jeet! My name is Ishanvi and this is my friend Shanaya," she told him with a smile as Jeet looked on flustered and accepted her hand shyly.

From that day, Isha and Shanaya have been inseparable, almost like twin sisters and that's how Shanaya became friends with Rohan.

But Jeet very well remembered the panic he witnessed on Rohan's face when Isha merely mentioned that she would leave him.

"Maybe there really was something more to their story!" he whispered to no one in particular.

"What of Abhi then? If he hadn't come between them, everything would be different..." Shruti put down her foot.

"You're wrong again Shruti... There too Shan--"

"Tanya...If you bring up Shanaya's name once more I'll--"

"SHUT UP GIRLS!" Kaizad was exasperated by all their pointless argument.

"Whatever happened, it's done and over with! And we cannot just blame them without knowing what actually happened, right?" Jeet bit out. They would never know the truth until they all were ready to face the past and accept it. And it wouldn't be possible till the much awaited four turned up.
