...so far ...
Friday's episode 5 clinched it. The show came together. Of course this is my subjective view. Feel free to disagree.
Saras is a small power packed powder keg of potentially chaos making man madness. Kumud is a woman with substance. I wasn't particularly expecting the Skype meeting to be a great moment, but it turned out to be a defining moment.
Everyone else in the show went out of focus (okay they also left the room š) . Kumud approached the camera. And Saras got mighty nervous. All his pre-conceived ideas and notions about life, his dad, his mum, (I doubt his step-mum registers much in his brain), even his convictions about himself were suddenly wobbling with uncertainty. Kumud has such force that it gets through Skype even before she speaks a word, or he can even see her face. He sinks back in his chair, already resigned, already completely at a loss as to what to do or say. She looks at him (his eyes) as if she somehow knows that this is far from the end of their story. We know it too. And then she says the line that is going to be the tagline of this story..."It started with your 'No'. It will end with my 'No'...".
Now it seems that Kumud knows Saras better than Saras will ever know himself or her. She knows. Women's intuition? Yeah, Kumud has bucket loads of it. She will face whatever comes her way in the name of Saraswatichandra.
Before today I wasn't really getting Saras. It took Skype to make me see what I couldn't see. And Gautam Rode is starting to click for me. I have never seen Jennifer before either, but I'd say she knows what she's doing. I don't know if SLB is actually directing this, but it was very effective. The editing was also very good.
Will give it an 8 out of 10 in my imaginary point system in my head.
