Aashka isn't fond of doing lead roles

Aashka Goradia doesn't have to worry about her career just because Kahin to Hoga is coming to an end. She is all set to take on a pivotal role in Zee's Sinndoor Tere Naam Ka. The actress talks about rumours surrounding Kahin… her role in Sindoor... and her favourite TV actress.

Are you happy with the role you are playing in Sinndoor tere naam ka?
Yes. With this role, I am getting a chance to play a different character, which you hardly get to see on television. I am playing a village girl. Her husband means everything to her. He is like her God. She is very shy and doesn't even look directly into his eyes. The character has been inspired by Tabu's character in Viraasat.

Whom are you paired with?
I will be seen opposite Sachin Shroff who plays Dhruv in the show.

Kahin to Hoga is coming to an end. How was it working with Balaji?
I can't comment on whether it's ending or not. I am not sure about the news. It was very nice working with Balaji Telefilms. The people around were good and we did have a lot of fun together. My creative team, Shivangi and Varun were very good and talented.

You played a small role in Akela. Why did you take it up?
The way the role was narrated to me, I didn't feel it would end up being so small. It sounded very happening. I had worked with Fire Works before in their serial Achanak. I don't understand why the production house didn't proceed with the story they narrated to me.

Are you happy with the way your career is shaping up?
I don't believe in playing lead roles. I love doing characters where there is some amount of variation in one's roles. If you play a lead role you are stuck to only one pattern for five six years. If I had waited I would have certainly got a lead role.

Any plans of making a name in movies?
Not at the moment. I am busy with my business and television.

What's your business all about?
I am opening a hair and beauty salon in association with hair stylist Javed Habib. The salon will be inaugurated on November 27, which is also my birthday.

Will we ever see you dancing in a reality show?
Maybe yes. If something of that sort comes to me, I would definitely like to give it a try. I try to test myself in different roles.

Whom were you most comfortable working with — Shilpa Saklani, Mansi Joshi Roy, Nausheen Ali Sardar or Aamna Sharif?
I worked a lot with Shilpa. But I had the greatest chemistry with Mansi Joshi Roy. She is a fabulous actress. I have learnt a lot from her. I am waiting to work with her again. Shilpa, Nausheen and Aamna are all my good friends.
