Vidya, Deepika to play sisters?

MUMBAI, Feb. 28 -- Noted cinematographer and Tamil filmmaker Rajiv Menon's next, a biopic on MS Subbulakshmi will see actor Vidya Balan don the role of the famous Carnatic singer. As the curiosity around the project continues to build, the latest information we've received is that the movie may now have two heroines instead of one. And if that news wasn't surprising enough, we've also been informed that the top choice for the second lead is actor Deepika Padukone.

An industry insider reveals, "Unlike earlier, the MS Subbulakshmi film is not a solo-actor project anymore. The two heroines will have equally important roles. Rajiv is one of the best cinematographers in India and he is very keen to work with Deepika."

The role that the Cocktail (2012) actor is apparently being considered for is that of Subbulakshmi's sister, Bala. "Deepika has an impressive filmography. She also has an interesting line-up this year (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express, Kochadaiyaan and Ram Leela). She has even worked with some of the best directors in the industry at a young age. That is why Rajiv is keen on bringing her and all her experience on board."

Meanwhile, Vidya is keeping herself busy reading the script and finalising details regarding the project. Though she is yet to reveal any information about her role, in a previous interview, she did confirm that she will star in the biopic. "I can't reveal much as I'm bound by contract. All I can say is that I'm doing one (a biopic)," she had said.

MS does not have a sister prolific enough like her. has to be false news. Maybe Deepika will play her step daughter Radha mami who figures prominently in MS amma's life.That should be interesting to watch.
