We had some long furious arguments in BB earlier when Rajeev Paul made statements that it is easier for him to find women at 40, than it is for Delnaaz to find men at 40.

It is true to a certain extent in India and in Bollywood. We have a fixation on young, nubile, unmarried women. As soon as a woman is married, her career must grind to a standstill. As soon as she enters her thirties, she is considered expired. We have old men romancing barely teens, but for a woman to romance someone younger is forbidden. But in reality it isn't so or shouldn't be so. If we look at other film industries even married women have had successful careers – and age has never been a bar with women getting good roles. And the cougar is also a known and accepted part of pop culture.

I think Bollywood has made some attempts to have older women with younger men. The most successful (and one I can remember) was Dimple and Akshaye Khanna in Dil Chahta hai. I think Farhan executed it very tastefully. To be honest, I'd be open to watching movies with Madhuri or Sridevi romancing some of the youngsters like Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan etc. Provided it is a good script with a good director, not the clich high school teen bangs teacher/librarian type of smut. Although I wouldn't mind either of them doing a Stiffler's mom kind of cameo.
