Mumbai, Feb 26 (IANS) Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut TV show "Saraswatichandra" is finally on air and the director-producer hopes that it completes 2,000 episodes.

An adaptation of Govardhanram Madhavaram Tripathi's novel, the show went live Monday on Star Plus. Gautam Rode and Jennifer Winget are seen as the lead actors in it.

"I just have one wish that we make a good serial, actors do a good job and it runs for 2000 episodes and may it become the biggest and most memorable serial," the 50-year-old said here in an interview.

So far Ekta Kapoor's "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" has been the longest running serial on Indian television with 1,833 episodes. It went on air in 2000 and ran till 2008.

but a request tat i have already read the story of saraswathichandra where it ends wit sad ending.. but i don't want it here.. please!!!!

I doubt that's going to be happening here as stories are usually tweaked to audiences' liking and considering the book is years old it is bound to be changed so that today's generation can relate to it.

SLB hs changed d ending...

2000 episodes means he will HAVE to show dem togeder and happy...😊

I really hope the show lasts for a very long time, that means we get lots of cute and romantic scenes between Saras and kumud!

Then it's unfair to original work.This novel was written in a special context, the message in the novel is to sacrifice personal happiness for social welfare and service.To live for others and not for yourself.😳

This novel was written in the end of 18 century when india was not independent, people are poor , and uneducated, and freedom struggle haven't picked pace, This book was kind of an open invitation for young educated gujrati boys to come and join in all these social activites.

I really wonder how Mr. Bhanshali will accomodate all those morals and values of that era, in these modern set up.😲
