Chapter 10: A Thousand Years
After they had finished their dinner, Taani had head back to her house as Swayam decided to stay with Sharon. Taani ran into her house so she wouldn't be caught in the rain when Swayam had dropped her off. Once she got inside she dressed in her pajamas she looked at her phone and tried Rey's number. After two rings, Rey had cut her call making Taani worried.
"He's probably busy with his dad." Taani said to herself and she sat down on her bed with her laptop. She sat for another two hours and had tried to call Rey at least 10 times. After the third hour passed she couldn't wait anymore, she was getting visibly tensed.
"Why is Rey's phone switched off?" Taani stomped her foot in irritation. She tried the number once more but it went to voicemail again.
"Pehle toh sirf phone cut kar rahe the, ab phone switch off." Taani muttered as she paced her room.
"Kahin kuch hua toh nahi." Taani muttered off and then shook her head. "No, Taani think positive, Mr. Singhania seemed to want to make things better."
Taani tried Rey's number again and groaned when it went to voicemail. "Is it so hard to pick up your phone!" she yelled at the phone before plopping down to her bed and grabbing her favorite teddy as she wondered what was happening.
Rey checked his calls and realized that he had 23 missed calls from Taani. He had just left his dad's house and was sitting in his car hoping that the rain would lighten up. It wasn't too bad right now, but he knew that after an hour, the rain was going to be pouring so badly that he wouldn't even be able to see outside of his window.
Rey called Taani back and was shocked that she picked up in a second, "Hello, Taani I" was all Rey was able to get out before he heard his angry girlfriend yelling at him. "How dare you not pick up my calls, do you know how worried I was."
"Taani listen, I" Rey tried again but was cut off by Taani.
"Do you know how many possible situations I came up with in my mind? First of all it's raining like crazy, Bhai won't be home tonight, and you were with your dad after such a long time. At least if you weren't going to pick up you could have sent a text!" he heard her yell into the phone.
"Taani I'm sorry please, but listen," Rey tried to talk again but he was cut off.
"Oh now you want me to listen, so what when I needed to hear that you were okay you didn't feel the need to talk, but now you want to talk?" Taani said.
Rey groaned and said, "Taani shut up and listen to me!" Rey's eyes widened as he face palmed himself knowing that he just fell into the worst trap any boyfriend could fall in. There was silence for five seconds before he heard his now very angry girlfriend speak.
"You want to talk then talk to yourself, bye!" Taani said before cutting the phone.
Rey sighed and then smiled, his girlfriend was just too damn cute. "Looks like I'm going to have to make you listen to me." Rey said with a grin as he drove off to her house.
When he got to her house the rain had gotten worse and he knew he couldn't sneak in through her window. He ran to the door and ended up getting completely soaked as he debated ringing the doorbell. He gripped the handle of the door and gave it a slight turn and realized that the door was open. Opening it quietly he stepped in and found Taani pacing in the living room.
"Hey sweetheart." He said sheepishly watching as Taani's eyes widened at seeing him. She then narrowed her eyes and marched up to him. Rey saw the look on her face and knew he was in trouble. He watched as Taani walked up to him grabbed his arm and shoved him out the door. But before she could slam the door on his face he pulled her out with him into the rain.
"Rey!" She yelled as she tried to get back in completely soaked in that one second outside from the down poor of rain. Rey smiled as he pulled her into him and moved a lock of hair that was stick to her face due to the rain behind her ear.
Rey saw her get lost into his eyes and he felt his heart warm. This was the only girl that could make him feel this way, like he was whole, like his entire life was made just for her, like he could give up everything just to make this one beautiful girl happy.
Taani was lost in Rey's eyes until she remembered the reason she was mad at him in the first place. Her eyes narrowed at him and she opened her mouth, "Rey it's raining and you,"
But she was cut off again by Rey kissing her passionately. This kiss was different from the kisses she had with Rey, this was something that Rey needed. Slowly the kiss turned into a soft kiss and they stayed embraced in each other as rain fell around them.
When they finally pulled apart Rey spoke first a little out of breath, "Seems like kissing you is the only effective way to get you to shut up."
Taani glared at Rey and melted when she saw his innocent 'I just got caught' grin. Taani laughed and hugged Rey.
"Kissing in the rain, another romantic thing that happens in movies." Taani said grinning widely causing Rey to laugh at her.
"Alright let's get inside before we get sick and then you tell me everything that happened Rey, and I mean everything." Taani said looking into his eyes.
Rey rolled his eyes and said, "Promise."
When they got inside Taani quickly pulled Rey into Swayam's room and gave him an extra towel and a pair of Swayam's clothes. "Go shower and change into these." Taani said.
Rey smiled at her and held her hand when she tried to leave. He leaned down and kissed her again, "You look so beautiful in the rain." He told her before going to shower.
Taani smiled and laughed at Rey's cheesiness before she went to go take a shower of her own.
When Rey got out of the shower he went to Swayam's mirror and saw how different he looked in his best friend's clothes. He laughed as he rolled up the sleeves and dried his hair with a towel. Deciding that he should look for Taani he went to her room to find her in her pajamas standing in front of the mirror brushing her wet hair. Rey smiled at went behind her and hugged her. He kissed her neck and placed his chin on her shoulder and said, "I love you."
Taani smiled and turned and said, "I love you too. Ab aap bataye, kya hua tha?" Taani asked worry clearly evident in her eyes.
"You know what, everything was good, it was awkward, but slowly maybe things will work out." Rey said as he narrated what happened.
*Flashback*
Rey sat in his dad's car and watched from the window as his friends left one by one. He saw Taani look at him and he smiled at her and waved hoping that she wouldn't worry too much.
His dad sat in the car and turned it on, "Do you still like Chinese food? We can order some on our way back."
"Yeah Dad that's cool." Rey said as he sat looking out the window. The rest of the car ride was painfully silent. When they got home Rey followed his Dad into the dining room where they sat.
"I'm sorry Rey." His dad said breaking the silence that they had.
"Dad," Rey said not knowing what to say.
"I know I don't deserve your forgiveness and if I was you I probably would break all ties with me. I have been a terrible father to you and there is no excuse for that." His dad said to him. "But I want to take time to get through this." He said looking at Rey.
"Dad, I want to make this work, but to be honest I just don't think I can fully ever trust you again." Rey said quietly.
Rey's dad sighed and said, "I had figured that much. It doesn't matter what type of relationship we have Rey as long as we have one. I rather you have me in your life as someone you know then someone you have nothing to do with." He said, "I want this to work."
Rey smiled and looked down, "Me too dad." For the rest of the night Rey and his dad had caught up on everything that had happened in their lives until Rey had left.
*Flashback ends*
Taani hugged Rey tightly and said, "I'm so happy for you. I'm so happy that your dad wants to change for you. And you know what I believe him, you are so incredible Rey he'd be crazy to not want you in his life."
Rey smiled and hugged her back, all the emotions that he faced today coming into that hug as he pulled her in close. "Okay, enough of this emotional drama." Taani said pulling away. She looked out her window and frowned, "Rey you can't go now, I won't let you drive in this weather."
Rey smiled at her and said, "Taani it'll be okay I can go."
"No Rey I won't let you." Taani said stubbornly making Rey smile.
"Aacha thik hai, I won't go." Rey said. He then smirked saying, "Usually it's you pushing me out the door, I'm glad you've finally understood my worth." He said sighing dramatically only to be hit with Taani's pillow. "Alright, alright," Rey said wrapping an arm around Taani, "So what do you want to do?"
Taani smiled and said, "Movie!"
Rey chuckled and said, "Alright sweetheart pick one."
Taani smiled and then remembered something, "Oh no, maine apni movies Aashi ko diye the humare sleepover ki liye."
Rey smiled and allowed Taani to drag him to her bed where they both cuddled up, wrapping the blanket around them because they were still cold from the rain, "Doesn't matter, I bet there's a movie coming on TV."
Turning on the TV Taani automatically checked the guide to see what was coming on and then she gasped smiling widely, "Crazy Stupid Love!" she said.
"No!" Rey said pulling away from Taani and looking at Taani like she was crazy. "There is no way I'm watching that with you."
"But Rey it's Steve Carrel and you like Steve Carrel." Taani said trying to get away with an innocent face.
"Yeah and it's also Ryan freakin Gosling and I most definitely don't like him. No thanks Taani I rather not watch my girlfriend drool over another guy especially not one who looks like that." Rey said pointing to Ryan Gosling on the screen. For the next five minutes they spent arguing over what movie to watch.
"Fine, then we're watching Breaking Dawn part 2." Taani said clicking on the movie that had already started ten minutes ago.
"What, arg, fine at least you don't find any of them hot." Rey said looking at Taani who was biting back a smile. "Are you serious?"
"Rey nope we are watching this, you wouldn't let me watch Crazy Stupid Love so now we are watching this." Taani said grinning.
Rey rolled his eyes and put his arm around Taani again, "Fine."
At the end of the movie Rey saw Taani smile slightly at Edward and Bella's happy ending. He watched as the song came on and all the flashbacks of the other movies came on, but he couldn't pay attention to the movie. All he could look at was Taani and think of how she was his life now, she was the only reason he existed, she was the reason he learned to be happy again.

Rey looked at Taani admiring her. Taani turned to see Rey looking at her and ended up getting lost in his eyes.

Rey cupped Taani's face in his hands and pushed her bangs out of her eyes, noticing how the song perfectly described how he felt for her.
One step closer
Rey leaned in so that his forehead was touching hers and watched as Taani looked at him with complete admiration and love.

Without sparing another second Rey closed the space between her and kissed her passionately, he kissed her slowly wanting her to realize just how much he loved her. They were so engrossed in their kiss that they didn't realize that the movie was over. It wasn't until the sound of the ending credits that they broke apart realizing that the movie was over.
Taani blushed and Rey bit his lip as they smiled at each other. It was around 1 in the morning and Taani looked outside noticing that the rain got worse, there was no way she was going to let Rey leave when the weather was so bad, and she was sure Sharon wouldn't let her brother leave either so she knew that Rey could easily sleep in Swayam's room.
While Twilight ended the next moving coming on that channel was Crazy Stupid Love.
"Oh no," Rey groaned as Taani giggled.
"See its destiny. Krishnaji bhi yehi chahte hai." Taani said.
Rey looked at her and gave in to his girlfriend's demand, "Fine, but if you even think about calling Ryan Gosling something as little as attractive we're done with this movie." Rey warned her.
Taani giggled and kissed Rey's cheek, "I may find Ryan Gosling attractive but he's not Rey, he's not the man I'm hopelessly and completely in love with." Taani whispered making Rey smile. Rey kissed her softly and smiled as they continued watching the movie.
Throughout half of the movie Taani had looked over and noticed that Rey had fallen asleep. She instantly smiled noticing how cute and innocent her Rey looked sleeping. She didn't have the heart to wake him up knowing that the day had worn him out completely. Instead she lowered his down onto the pillow that she had given him. Kissing him on the cheek Taani said, "I love you so much Rey and I trust you more than I trust myself." Turning off the TV Taani put her pillow down and turned off the lights wrapping the blanket around her and Rey as she snuggled into Rey's chest falling asleep instantly.
When Rey woke up in the morning her felt like he had gotten the best sleep in his life. He realized that he felt a weight on his chest and looked down to find Taani asleep, her head on his chest and his arm around her waist. He smiled and couldn't help but push her bangs away from her eyes. He felt her stir in her sleep and watched as she cutely woke up rubbing her tired eyes.
"Good morning sweetheart." Rey said smiling at her.
"Good morning." Taani said smiling before she gasped and shot up out of bed. "Rey we have to go, rehearsals are going to start in an hour!" Taani said realizing that she over slept.
Rey laughed and got up, "Taani chill, we'll reach there on time."
Taani looked at him and nodded before smiling, "Thik hai but now you have to go get ready, you can't show up wearing Bhai's clothes."
Rey looked down and grinned, "Alright main jaata hoon but I'll be back to pick you up." He said as they walked to her door. "Taani, thanks." Rey said surprising her.
Taani looked at him in shock and he explained, "Thank you for having enough trust in me to let me stay with you last night.
Taani smiled and said, "I love you Rey."
"I love you." Rey said kissing her forehead before he left. "Be ready in an hour!" Rey yelled over his shoulder as he went to his car. Smiling he started driving, "I love her."
