Hey guys, again this chapter is rushed and short and I'm really sorry but due to work I haven't been getting much time to write, I haven't even been getting time to sleep, have only had 3-4 hours of sleep per day! Anyways this chapter is the dance off and it doesn't have much taarey but it has the progression of the story line. I'm not too happy with this chapter and I'm really, really sorry if this doesn't meet up to expectations and I hope you guys like it. Links of the song will come with the chapter, as the links of the songs are the dances itself.

Chapter 9: Gravity/ Watcha Say
"Five, six, seven eight." Rey said as he and Taani did a last rehearsal of their dance. Today was their big day, the auditions and both of them had a lot riding on this.
"Awesome." Rey said grinning as they finished perfectly. Aashi and Sid were all ready to go and the gang was waiting for them to come as well. On the ride there Taani was getting more nervous then she already was. She looked at the cars parked and noticed her Dad's car parked there as well. Taking in a breath she walked inside the audition hall and looked around at all the different type of people there.
She kept walking until she felt Rey stop at where he was. Watching his line of gaze she turned to see what he was looking at and in an instant she felt his pain. It was his father standing there talking to the judges. Taani turned to Rey and gently put her hand in his and squeezed his hand letting him know that she was there for him.
Rey turned to look at Taani and smiled at her. He watched his father and couldn't help but want to just leave that room. He saw his dad talk to the other judges and he shook his head. He knew that the fact that the auditions needed a non dancing judge wasn't the only reason his dad was there. He knew why his dad was here, it was to get into his head. But Rey wasn't going to let that happen, he had worked too hard to get this point. Taani had worked too hard to get to this point. And he wasn't going to let an asshole of his dad or even Taani's dad get in the way of their goals.
"Rey it's okay, we can go stand somewhere else. Besides we still have to get dressed, Aashi and Sid are already dressed." Taani said.
"Yeah let's go," Rey said walking away from his dad.
Once they were all dressed they waited backstage for their names to be called. Taani watched the performances being done and her heart was beating. All of them were great. "Rey," Taani said nervously.
"Taani," Rey said cupping her face in his hands, "It'll be okay."
"Rey and Taani you're up." The backstage crew said as Rey held Taani's hand and walked to the stage.
"We'll be great." Rey said as they stepped out onto the stage.
The stage was like any normal competition stage. They could see the lights hitting the stage and they saw all the people in the audience. They even recognized a few of them from their school. The three judges were sitting and Rey saw his dad flicker a glance at him. Taani saw her dad and Sheila sitting in the audience as her dad gave her a smile and she resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Looking further down Taani saw Swayam sitting there with a small smile on his face. That one smile made gave Taani the confidence to get over her nervousness. She knew that no matter what her Bhai was with her, and she wasn't going to let the only family she had down. This was it, Taani's chance to get rid of the sadness in her life once and for all.
"Rey and Taani from St. Louis College, thank you for coming out. You may get started. Start sound." The female judge said.

"I just want to say, that was the best performance I've seen tonight." The first judge said. "Everything was absolutely brilliant, the choreography, the expressions, the form and posture. I am more than just impressed. The one point I wanted to point out is the costumes. The red for your costume Taani that symbolize the bleeding, hurt heart and the black for your costume Rey that symbolized a heinous part of life and the red ribbon that symbolized the bleeding from her, it was mind blowing. dance was clean and smooth, and the point came across quite well. I have to say well done, and whomever this dance was a message for I just want to say after seeing it, they have gotten the point.
Taarey smiled at thanked the judge as Rey's dad spoke a few words, "Very well done."
The third judge went to speak on. "Wow, that was absolutely amazing. This dance should be a reminder to all of those watching backstage and in the audience as to why dance is a passion in the first place. The pain on your face Taani and the look of absolute atrocity on your face Rey it gave the dance exactly what it needed. The passion of this dance shown through! It was brilliant, I salute the both of you. You both reminded me of the original passion I had when I started dancing." She said making TaaRey smile and hug each other. "I have to admit I am quite interested, why you thought of doing this for your audition piece, it seems like the both of you have gone through a hurdle that has caused this dance to come out." The female judge said.
Taani smiled at Rey as she spoke, "Thank you ma'am actually it was a part of our life that we were trying to depict. Both of us," Taani said looking at Rey who squeezed her hand in support, "Have fathers who for the lack of a better word put us down. We both dealt with fathers who would rather push their dreams on us rather than support ours, and we have selfish fathers who look at us a money machines instead of their children." Taani said glaring at her dad who looked like he had just be caught at a crime scene. "So we wanted to show them through our passion of dance that we are done with them, we want nothing to do with them, and from now on they are not part of our lives." Taani said. "And you know what, it is said that giving up is never the answer, but in some cases giving up doesn't mean that we've lost it means that we are strong enough to accept the truth and move on with our lives. So to my dad, I'm done with you for good."
The two judges started applauding as Rey's dad's eyes softened. Rey's dad went to his mike and said, "You both have shown me today that dance is equally as important as every other passion. I'm proud of you Rey and I'm sorry for not recognizing this passion." He said. He looked at the other judges and excused himself from the panel of judges.
"Thank you Rey and Taani, please send the other two contestants in from your college." The female judge said. Taani and Rey thanked them as they left the stage. Once they got backstage they saw all their friends there and they smiled at their cheering and they got pulled into a group hug.
"Alright guys Aashi and Sid you're up go!" Taani said pulling away from the hug.
"Guys we're taking a ten minute break and then you will be up." The backstage crew said leaving the gang.
Just then Rohan came upto them. "Hey guys, nice performance, but as you know my school has excellent, professional dancers." He said, but surprisingly not in a mocking tone.
"So what do you want us to do about it?" Aashi said bluntly.
"Aashi," Rohan said sighing, "I wanted to talk to you."
"But she doesn't want to talk to you." Sid said.
"Aashi everything that happened, well I guess it was good because me and you would have never worked out." Rohan said with a smirk as Aashi's eyes narrowed.
"Yup, because unlike Anya I don't go for any ordinary guy." Aashi responded earning snickers from the rest of the gang.
Rohan flinched and said, "I didn't want you to get hurt, but then," he trailed off as Aashi spoke over him.
"You can apologize for what you did, but I will never forgive you. You wanted me hurt Rohan, I can see it in your eyes, and you wanted revenge. You cheated on me, and even if I could forgive you I can never forget it. So you're out of my life." Aashi said as Rohan walked away from the group.
"Oh shit," Sid said hiding behind Aashi.
"What are you doing?" Aashi said looking at him like he was crazy.
"My ex and her boyfriend." He said pointing to the girl in blue.
The girl looked over and saw Sid and smirked and wave. Sid looked disgusted and just rolled his eyes.
"St. Louis you're on now." The backstage crew said breaking them from their topic.
"All right go guys, we'll be right in the audience for you." Taani said as she pushed them towards the stage.
Aashi and Sid left to the main stage as the gang went out to watch from the audience and Rey and Taani went to the section in the auditorium that was reserved for contestants and found their seats in the front. Taani looked at Rey who looked a bit off from what had happened with his dad.
"Rey please don't worry right now. We'll figure it out together." Taani promised him.
Rey smiled and looked at her, "I know."
"Rey I'm happy that your dad has understood your passion." Taani said as the performance was not starting yet.
Rey turned to Taani and said, "I know, it's just, I can't let everything go. It's going to take time, and even then I don't think I can ever build a relationship of the same trust I had as a child in him."
"Rey," Taani said holding his face in her hands, "It's okay if you can't build the same relationship. Some relationship is better than none, and he wants a new chance and he's willing to reform himself. Give him a chance and take it one step at a time, even if you can't have an ideal father son relationship, you'll atleast have him in your life."
Rey smiled and stared at the beautiful girl sitting next to him. Taking her hand in his he kissed her hand and said, "I love you for being in my life."
Taani smiled as she put her head on his chest as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and whispered, "I love you too."
The lights dimmed and the spotlight hit the stage and they knew that the performance was going to start.
"Aashi and Sid, you may start the music now." They heard the judge say as Aashi and Sid's song came on.

When they were done the crowd erupted in cheers and Taani and the gang yelled, "Woahhh! Go team St. Louis, Aashi Sid!"
The first judge spoke, "That was remarkable. Lyrical hip hop is often very difficult to depict, but the story got through. The way you used your prop, and the screen in the back was brilliant! I don't know if it's just the college, but St. Louis has completely impressed me. Even though we're not allowed to give our decisions out yet I can say I'm excited to see St. Louis group performance at finals." He finished as the entire gang erupted in excited screams and Aashi and Sid hugged.
"What is this, St. Louis College, wow. The first couple seemed to have a back story and from your dance I can guess what you're back story is. All I have to say is the people that cheated on the both of you must feel so stupid right now because the hot chemistry between you that set the stage of fire and the passion in your eyes proved that you are over their indiscretion and you have something much better than them now." The female judge said making the audience cheer and wolf whistle. "Mind blowing performance."
Aashi and Sid thanked the judges and left the stage where they met the gang backstage as they waited for the announcement. After the judges marked everyone they read out the colleges that made it to the finals, "'St. Xaviers, St. Teresea, St. Louis'" the gang didn't hear anything after their school.
"YESSS!" they all yelled as they attacked each other in a group hug. They left the building excited about making it to finals and were stopped by Ram and Sheila.
Taani looked at them and Ram spoke first, "Taani we need to talk."
Before Taani had a chance to speak Swayam spoke, "You will stay away from Taani. She is my responsibility, my younger sister and unless I am there you are not allowed to even contact her. If you even try to meet her I will place a restraining order against you. I hope we're clear." Swayam said as he grabbed Taani's hand and led her away from there.
Taani stopped Swayam once they reached the parking lot and hugged him, "I love you Bhai." She said tightly hugging her brother.
Swayam smiled and said, "I love you Taani, remember I will always be here to protect you. Tumhara Bhai hoon main, aur thoda sa possessive bhai types hoon." He said making her laugh.
Rey had gotten a phone call and he saw it was his dad. Taani urged him to pick up and heard Rey's conversation with his dad. "Rey please you go home with your dad and see what happens, try and sort things out."
"But Taani," Rey said not wanting to leave his friends after their victory.
"Rey please go, everything will be okay." Taani said smiling. Rey smiled and bid goodbye to the gang.
Taani looked at her gang and her brother who still had his arm around her and walked to their car. Things were turning up great.
